I think a reason why Tim Hortons coffee can taste really gross from some places is the municipal water supply in the area. I've had Tim Hortons coffee from different one's in Mississauga and all have have tasted so disgusting I had to toss them. Starbucks can be really hit or miss too. I think sometimes they leave the coffee for a couple of days in the urns and by that time its like drinking crude oil. Gross.

Starbucks have their coffee on a timer. I've seen them replace the vat after the timer goes off many times. Granted, some locations may not be as strict with this.
What bugs me about Starbucks is not the service, but the pretentious people who go there. I hate having to wait and I always get behind some stuck-up ass who wants a cup of whatever that takes a paragraph to order. Screw the lattes, crappacinos and all that other shit and get the fuck outta the way.
I get a headache if I don't have at least one large cup before noon. Can you get that addicted to this stuff?
The weak-ass java at Second Cup doesn't do it for me and I won't go to Starbucks because of what I said earlier. Coffee Time and Country Style is too lame as well. There is a small joint near my workplace called Yellow Cup Cafe that is pretty decent. I think they are independent, but they have a variety of flavour choices.
For me, Tim's is a way of life and I'll forever be kicking myself for not buying into one 12 years ago.
