I have to say this show aired when I grew up & I watched it maybe 5-10 times, then I figured out that it was a very poor excuse for entertainment.

Sure Chrissy was cute & Joyce showed off her tits, cool , but the acting was terrible and the story lines were so predictable, I tuned it out & chose to walk the dog at that time

From what I hear John Ritter was a honest and decent person and very much a family man. For that I was sadden by his early demise, however the term great should be reserved for names like Bogart, Brando and De Niro.
John Ritter was not what I would define as great.

Like everything else one persons idol is another's waste of time & if you thought he was great, so be it
I think that was well-written, Mr. LaRue. I'm sure no one likes to read that their pick for best tv show of all-time sucked but personal taste can go a long way. IMHO it sucked too though. But it did help launch a very successful infomercial career for Suzanne Sommers!

Dragnet - Changed and defined cop shows
24 - return of the serial, but on the tube, great idea
Get Smart - one of the funniest, best written shows ever
Star Trek TOS - The series that challenged society on so many levels
Band of Brothers - if this does not make war unthinkable, nothing will
Rome - historically lovely, delightful details in the costumes and the social mores of the time
Dexter - like in Dr. Strangelove, you root for the moral evil, showing that in reality nothing is black or white.
True Blood - sexy escapism, Twilight for adults
Six Feet Under - a bit of a soap opera, but it pushed the boundaries about relationships and what is or is not acceptable. Better than average acting for TV
Carnivale - just a fun little series.

What was the show with Joseph Conrad as a detective... Cannonball? Oh wait, that's just what his gut was shaped like. Cannon.

Or those wonderful Irwin Allen shows, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, and Time Tunnel.
