This shit is getting ridiculous. This is pretty much what the news coverage is like the past few days:

Reporter: What does it mean to you to have your film screened here?

I used to buy season tickets to the TIFF years back, but now it's too expensive and too pretentious. It's really just an industry event.

I hear you. I could never get it either. Sure there are some talented gorgeous people around but I think people are total idiots when they go apeshit because they "saw" a star. I remember when the Hard Rock Cafe opened and Bruce Willis was on hand to open it...what a laugh.

I worked at TIFF quite a few years ago and met Michael Caine, Steve Buscemi and a few others. Sir Michael got off the elevator (without any handlers lol) and came over to the service desk where I was standing. Said "Hey, how are ya"? just like anyone else. The girl behind the desk was all starstruck so I asked him "can I get you something, water"??? He said "sure great thanks" then I directed him to the interview room he was scheduled for. BFD. The girl (actually 40 yr old woman) was all OMG OMG that's that's MICHAEL CAINE (I whispered calm the fuck down already).....lol They're just people....

As someone stated, you want to worship someone? How about the cops who risk their lives protecting us, the firefighters who run INTO burning buildings, Doctors and nurses who deal with death every day and yes, the soldiers who are dying for us......

Say what you want - TIFF brings a shit load of money and international exposure to Toronto and as far as I know, the City doesn't pay a dime for it.

Allot more than I can say for Gay Pride, or Caribana, or Nuit Blanche, all of which the City lays out millions for and frankly I see as paying for a party for a Special Interest group.

So hats off to the organizers of TIFF.

Movies have a much wider appeal than Caribana, Gay Pride, or Nuit Blanche.

I saw Megan Fox at her screening of Jennifer's Body just cuz of her (not for the movie, although it is a pretty good scary B movie).

My pics were posted in that other thread about Jennifer's Body but you can only see the links due to bugs in this software.

She dazzled in the black dress she wore (like she was going to the Oscars) - very glamorous.

I go to TIFF every year. My next two movies are Baaria by Giuseppe Tornitore (director of Cinema Paradiso), and Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes and others (Werner Herzog, director) which I think is like a re-telling of the first BL movie starring Harvey Keitel about a crooked cop (that was an excellent film).

My regret is that I forgot to thumb thru the documentary section and would've
picked The Most Dangerous Man in America: David Ellsberg & The Pentagon Papers (or something like that) but it's off sale and only available on a RUSH basis which I don't have time to line up for.

I usually cap TIFF with dinner at Bistro 990 before or after my last flick, and I've seen a few stars there like tennis pro Venus Williams, or that Canadian Actor who was in the film with Julie Christie who played an Alzheimer's patient (sheesh, can't remember his name).

Another documentary is about Hugh Hefner but won't see that either. The Playboy king will be in town next week.

You do a lot of time to see films as they don't always play after work hours on weekends, and you have to be lucky with the draw of your film selections.

I'm seeing bad lieutenant with cage as well.
Incidentally was at the drake last nite and Megan fox was partying there.

I heard that studios or distributors aren't picking up movies as much or as fast as they did last year, but I believe her film is just out or will be next week in public movie houses.

I've been hanging out at Nikki Beach www.nikkibeach.com in the Park Hyatt the past few nights and I have NEVER seen such a ratio of HOT women to men.

The Park Hyatt. Isn't that the hotel where the Yankees or A-Rod stay when they are in town? Apparently, A-Rod stays at a different hotel than the one where the team stays. That way he can sneak out to the Brass Rail unnoticed.

Any film I saw at TIFF has been professionally cut and edited. As for censoring, I would hazard a guess to say yes, they have been rated since they are being viewed by the general public. I mean, our glorious leaders wouldn't want us to see bush or anything untoward like that hehehehe

Speaking of bush etc. I watched The Reader last night with Kate Winslet and I have noticed something: in european movies, when a woman is lying in bed with a man (or woman for that matter) after having fucked their brains out, they lie there naturally. Boobs out, etc etc. In North American films the woman ALWAYS (almost) holds the sheet over her boobs. I always laugh at that. LIke talk about UNrealistic. I mean, she prolly just had this guy's dick in her mouth, his tongue up her ass, and now she's all modest? lol....I find it so fricken funny for some reason.......

They are as the director or producer see fit at a Festival event.

Whatever distributor picks up the film rights, it will be subject to approval by the ratings board of that country or region.

T-Boy mentioned something I mentioned earlier: That people who run into burning buildings are much more deserving of our praise than only those with marketable aesthetics.

Sure, actors have their place, but it is a writer, director and producers that have created a film project. Think of it this way: do you go to a restaurant for the food or for the waiter?

No matter how charming and sexy the waiter might be, he/she is presenting you with something that someone else has prepared. A good Chef (Director) or Producer (Restaurant Owner) will be the ones who approve all menus, content and staff.

More people should know who Jeunet, Almodovar, Kar-Wai, Tornatore and Salles are.

I would eat at their restaurants any time never caring who the service staff is.

Yes, this is the answer to my question. For example, I heard that the film "Brown Bunny" was shown "uncut" at some festivals but the theatrical version cut out the fellatio scene (I never actually saw the movie).

Sorry guys, one more question. Is it true that the penis in the "Brown Bunny" fellatio scene belonged to a stunt double and not Vincent Gallo? You don't see Vincent's face and his penis in the same frame. On the other hand, the "mouth" belongs to Chloe Seviny and not a stunt double.
