Depends on the theatre. I don't go to Berlin nearly as much as I used to, but I had some fun encounters in the "Sex Kinos" there. Polish girls available to service you for a price while you drink a pils and watch porn on the big screen. Yes there are other people in the theatre, but it's all legal and the exhibitionism aspect of it is half of the fun. The other half of the fun is how sketchy it feels, if you're into that.
Metro on, the other hand, has all of the sketchiness but none of the Polish girls. With the advent of the Internet it seems to have morphed into a gay cruising ground. I've dropped in a few times over the years, hoping for a Berlin-like experience, but have been profoundly disappointed. I've only ever seen two girls there. One was a young hottie there with a bunch of male friends for protection, maybe researching an essay for some course at Ryerson based on what they seemed to be talking about. The other was an oriental girl brought in by this old white guy. I don't know if he was her boyfriend, pimp or john, but she serviced a half-a-dozen guys two at a time in the "Charlie Chaplin" room while he watched with one hand down his pants. I watched out of morbid curiosity, but said no when he offered me a turn.
I'm really curious how this whole 'art house' experiment turns out. I figure Hirji has been losing money on this place for decades, but he can't sell it for enough to make his money back even given the run-up in Toronto real estate. Surprised he didn't just walk away from it years ago.
