Fond memories of going to summer camp 1955 to 1957. Everybody had knives, usually a Swiss Army style pocket knife with all sorts of useful and not-so-useful fold out blades and tools. Used to play a game called mumbledypeg (sp?) In which we would fling the knives into the ground and then have to stretch our arms and legs to where it stuck. Also the good old "see how fast you can stab between the outstretched fingers of your other hand progressively, without stabbing your flesh" game.
Each kid also had a hunting knife, usually with at least a 6" blade, and some even had "Bowie knives", which were huge. Great fun learning how to throw them so they would stick into trees.
Different world back then...
