Tracking and keystroking programs

Well, i got busted....sort of.My wife found out about a friend I have.First off my wife is a very paranoid who simply believes men and women cannot simply be friends. She is a co worker who has the same kind of paranoid dink for a spouse.

She said she tracked me through a tracking and keystroke checking program.I personally think that is BS.I'm not how she found out about my non fucking illicit affair but I don't like someone tracking my activities period. She actually knows about terb and is fine with it.This pissed me off more then anything.

How can I run a discreet scan on my system for any tracking or keystroke recording programs?...I'm somewhat tech savvy as far as follows instructionsI'm running Windows Vista if that matters.Any information would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.

Logitech wireless keyboards come with key stroke software to protect you.

get a netbook or older laptop and password protect it, or lock the bios that way no one but you can use it. I think Internet Explorer has an inprivate browsing feature.

Good luck

All the replies so far have been strategies for avoiding getting caught by a keystroke-logging program, but the OP's question hasn't been tackled at all: How do you check your computer to find out *IF* it has a key-logger installed on it? I'm curious now to know the answer myself ... Besides, I'm sure he wants to be able to find out if it's there and delete it. I know I'd hate having to use all these cloak-and-dagger methods instead of just being careful on my own computer ...

So does anybody have the answer? There are now *two* people asking, because you can count me in on wantint to know, lol. ;)

Hmm, so she's aware of TERB,assuming she knows your handle, when she logs on & reads your post here...................then what?

Would a anti-virus or malware program detect a monitoring program if it appeared legit?(I'm not sure the logistics behind them but say a person has a password for access to the contents of the find and it was installed by the user).Would it still show it as a threat, or as a simple program like all the others?

She does not know my handle or my log in code. She has known about TERB for 10 years now and is okay with my playtime here in terbworld. That is what irked me the most. This was simple insecurity and a violation of privacy.i did nothing wrong.

It is your wireless network settings.

If your wife installed a legit keylogger, I would try looking under Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. You might also have some luck with a program called autoruns from Microsoft. It lists all the programs that run on startup.

A good keylogger program will run so deeply and silently in the background that it will avoid detection by almost every conventional anti-virus security program. They are specifically designed to run in ultrastealth mode.
Yep the government has all kinds of apps like that available.

If you are really paranoid run Linux off a usb flash drive. It works great. This allows you to surf on any PC you plug it into. You carry your PC on a key chain....:)

Get an Iphone, lock it with a password and use that as your surfing / communication device.

In terms of your computer, McAfee enterprise edition does a very good job of detecting key logging programs - just make sure to enable the check for it in the options. You may also want to run "hijackthis" to see what is starting up. But only sure way to make sure there is none - clean reinstall the OS (take this chance to upgrade to win7 if you haven't and enable admin controls, different users, etc.).

For my browsing, I use chrome and enable (be default) incognito mode (google on how to do this). So whenever I'm on the net - I have a certain amount of safety.

every time you don't want to be monitored; just reboot he PC from USB

try a online scan of your PC

What he said. Puppy linux is really small and really easy to use. Wouldn't beat a packet sniffer, though.

I'm reasonably tech savvy and know some fairly hardcore geeks. I don't know where to get a keylogger or how to use one. I don't know anybody who does. I have the impression that they're hard to use and hard to decipher. I don't know anything about your wife, so unless you have a good reason to believe what she's saying, your instincts make sense. She isn't fucking a CSIS agent is she?

Discuss with your friend how you both plan on knocking off each other's spouse. Be explicit in the details, including the date and time...Then watch her behaviour leading up to the date.

Keep me informed - I plan to masturbate to your response(s)

Thank you for the information gentleman.Ref, i'll get that info and a towel for you ASAP.A good friend suggested I use BFH hardware to make sure there's no longer any chance of being traced(Big Fucking Hammer). I suspect my first instinct was right but will try some of the software solutions offered.Cheers

If someone is running that level of electronic survellance on you, then I would ask a lawyer about the legality of it with regards to the criminal code and illegally recording conversations.

It also goes to show how Windows is useless for any kind of secure environment. Also, be on the lookout for the fact that the eavesdropping did not involve the computer at all. The keylogger is a cover for another alternate method, like finding out the password on an on-line email account.
