What is the cheapest and quickest way for my bike and I to go from downtown Toronto to downtown Montreal. I am thinking maybe VIA rail. Also, where to stay in downtown Montreal.

Does Via rail except bikes on there trains? Downtown Montreal hotels don't recall seeing bike parking. Maybe motels that's cheaper too.

Megabus is the cheapest option. You have to book ahead on line.
Tell more about Megabus. What is their contact info? I want to bring my bike so I can travel around Montreal. My bike doesn't have a Toronto license, will this be a problem in Montreal?

If you don't like the bus, try Porter Airlines at the Island Airport. Cheaper than Via (stay away from Via!!).

I see nothing wrong with VIA - they have decent business class fares and I enjoy the train ride. :) Also, you are right downtown when you arrive.

Call Via, find out which of the Montreal Trains has a baggage car and if they charge for it.

Then go on line and look for fares, if you book sufficiently in advance, you can get very low prices

The cheapest way is to ride it. :biggrin1:

"Quick" would depend on you...
Am I wrong to assume that cycling on 401 is not allowed,
not even on the edge? I imagine it will take the fastest biker in
the world days to get to Montreal riding through regional roads.
