Tree Stump Removal

Have you ever dug out the stump of a good-sized tree yourself? I presume you have, but if so you must know that it is not a job to be undertaken lightly: it can be a hell of a job.

Makes one appreciate the work that the European settlers in the New World undertook when transforming North America. Lots of forest but no stump grindors back then.

Dig down deep enough to wrap a length of chain around the stump. Attach said chain to pick-up truck. Stand on accelerator. Done.

In case you don't want to spend $200. for a contractor to come in and grind it you can rent a small stump grinder that looks something like this:

I AGREE completely! Prying one of those monsters out of the ground is a challenge worthy of any pioneer-spirited man out there. Last one I did I got it completely free but it was way too heavy to lift/push out, so I chained it up and dragged it out with my vehicle. It's still slowly rotting in a corner of my yard.

put it out with your yard waste- the city will take it.(eventually).

The OP said he cut down an old tree and SPECIFICALLY said he wanted recommendations for companies that do TREE STUMP REMOVAL BY GRINDING. He is in Toronto.

Captain Obvious brought up an idea that the OP obviously had not ever thought about before... dig, chop, leverage it out himself and with a few (son to be ex-) friends!

I could hear the OP slapping himself on the forehead thinking "Why didn't I think of that before asking for a recommendation of a stump grinding company. Sounds like I can have even more fun than the $500 I thought I'd save by cutting down the fucking tree in the first place!"

OP politely said he didn't want to bother and said he'd stick with the plan to find someone to do it for him with a stump grinder.

Might have well as been talking to his own asshole.... off we go about how to dig out, remove your foot with an axe, use enyzmes or rent your own stump grinder...
