Trip to Costa Rica anyone?

In response to several questions posed re this trip:
Traveling alone is not great, so a companion is good and adds security to both. Whether that person is male or female doesn't really matter to me, but of course that would affect what goes on and how the trip takes shape.

As an example, if a male wished to travel along, we would likely have separate accommodations and our activities while there may reflect the fact that two guys are down in the tropics. If that were the case, I would expect that the travel buddy would pay his own way entirely.

If however, the travel companion is a female, then some other options could be open and on the table, but that would be totally up to the individual.

My primary purpose in this trip is to visit two friends who lived in London several years ago, to see how they are doing.

I am still accepting "expressions of interest" in the trip. Dates are Sept 1 to 9.

I have lived in CR for a number of years and frequent all these establishments. If you are looking for a hotel, stay at Sportsmens Lodge. Hotel Del Rey is a great place to hang out, as there is a large selection of girls 24/7, but the hotel facilities are very basic. Expect to pay anywhere from $40-$80 for an hour if you are staying in the hotel or nearby. All the girls are independents and you can negotiate with them directly. Rates vary based on looks, and most ask for $100 (particularly the hot Columbianas), but all will 'settle' for substantially less. It is not uncommon to find an 8 or 9 that will spend the night for $100.

There are always girls at Sportsmens Lodge and it is no more than a $2 taxi (even at the gringo rate) to the Del Rey from there. Pirates Club on Calle 10 is also fun, along with New Fantasy. Both very affordable, $40 or less for FS/massage etc.

Check out the VIP room at Pirates Club, complete with stripper pole and good sound system. Bar Kingston is next door, also worth a look. For the more adventerous, P4P can be found pretty much everywhere. El Pueblo after midnight might be intimidating to some, but many 'working' girls congregate there to party after hours. The same with Fandangos in Escazu (after hours, open till whenever), Castros, and Fiesta Casino by the airport on Monday nights.

For a good strip club check out D'Pelufos, by the airport or in San Pedro. Its a place the locals go, not a clip joint and full service available at a reasonable price. There are alot of very hot girls that work there. Tango India is a sweet strip club with a whole plane inside (that is available for rental by the hour), along with a number of theme rooms and even a glass elevator. It kills anything I've ever seen anywhere else. Avoid buying drinks for girls as they are $20/each. Other than that it is a great time and very reasonable prices considering the decor. Atlantis is also fun, sweet hot tub room.

Alot of good affordable restaurants in the area, check out Tin Jo for Chinese, Esquina de Buenos Aires for Argentinian Steak and Il Rittorino for some of the best Italian i've ever had. Great Lebonese food at Lubnan, and they have hookas that you can smoke in the restaurant, very cool place. All these places are very reasonably priced compared to what you are use to for restaurants in Toronto. Especially the alcohol, normally around $2 a drink but it is common to order 'cuartas' which are 200ml bottles to the table if you drink like I do.

I'm in Toronto for the next week, and other than the good golf (the ONLY reason I'm here, and will it will probably be snowing in a few weeks so that rules out ANY reason to be in Toronto), the city sucks and I can't wait to get back to paradise!

Mongering in the CR

I am looking at going to the CR (first trip) this winter and looking forward to pooning down there. Anyone heading down there sometime this winter? I heard it is a good practice to have a "wingman" while down there. Any advice on how long a visit for a first timer should be there? I was thinking 4 or 5 days, that's probably all I could handle for a first trip as I would be drained, lol.

I believe that I saw your post on CRT. If so, you are doing your homework properly. However, it's hard to be fully prepared for the reality of Costa Rica. At least as Canadians, we have a taste of what is possible, since we have many more freedoms than out brothers and sisters immediately to our south. To them the scene in Costa Rica is truly overwhelming and many go way overboard. Canadians just don't go overboard, do we, eh?

The beer in CR is great, too, which affects the US dudes! Another thing we're quite used to here and they aren't.

Write to me, my friend, if you want some personal recommendations. I have a list. I was so very fortunate to be introduced to some great people (read: female) and so the week was extremely enjoyable. I also discovered that the packaging may not be a full indication of the contents and possibly also the experience - some are too fancy, other plain jane packaging have exceptional contents.

Anyway, it was a trip to remember, at least until the next time!

No, I don't think we've met. Some 'lovelies' in Toronto, sure, but very mechanical and all business. I find that most Canadian hoes are drug addicts and the cool ones are Asian, but again its more like a massage parlor (white slavery) experience. Can't really compare with Latin America, there is no real 'ho scene' anywhere in North America. I like the 18 yr old spinners that are trying to make money to pay their cell phone bills. The ones that don't look at you funny when you blow a load in their face.
