Trish Stratus retires from WWE

The Greek-Canadian princess Trish Status officially announced her retirement from the WWE.

She had done quite well for herself since joining the WWE in 2000 pulling in over $500,000 per year (which was more than what E. Guerrero, C. Beniot and even R. Flair are currently making).

The reason for her retirement is because she is actually getting married to her Italian fiancee next month and wants some time off.

She is having her wedding reception in Toronto at Ontario Place (Atlantis) on Saturday, September 30th. Apparantly many of the WWE brass and talent will be in attendance.

Why would Lita rat on Trish - and why would WWE post that in their site??

Rock, Jericho, Stone Cold retired, but never had to "address the fans" on RAW or anything like that, why is Trish addressing the fans this week on RAW?

I may not watch wrestling much anymore, but I used to watch it often and if you know anything about the WWE, then you'd know that this is far from a retirement, this is a complete angle for a future storyline.

Trish Stratus will be back, JMO.

Though there is no way of knowing for sure, I don't think this is an angle.

On the wrestling websites, there has been talk for some time now that Trish is looking to leave wrestling once she gets married. The build-up on RAW may be to help promote the fact that Trish's final pay per view would be the Sept. 17 event in her hometown of Toronto.

The rumour is that she plans to try to pursue a career in acting.

Of course, much like another activity that many of us follow closely, you can "never say never." But at this point, it sounds like Trish's plan to retire is sincere.

There is an interview with Trish today in the Toronto Sun. It certainly seems like her retirement is the real thing.

Of course, nothing is ever certain in wrestling -- I can remember the first time Rowdy Roddy Piper retired (and he was serious about it) back in 1987. Still, at this point, it seems like Trish is sincere about hanging up her boots.

not sure about being a SP but yes - Stratus's mother Alice is a teacher of Polish descent, and her father John is a real estate agent of Greek descent.
