IF energy costs go down? HOW do you think Trump or anyone is going to lower the price of electricity? Seriously.
...
Trump fans are a bit like Chuck Norris fans or Bruce Lee fans

Only Chuck Norris fans know not to take his "facts" seriously.

I am pretty sure the USMCA has a five year review process built in. That is coming up during his tenure.
2026

we need to remove Trudeau from office well before then and give Pierre P some time to make tangible improvements on the boarder issue
it is time for Jagmeet Singh to pull the plug on Mr. Dress up

a reasonable counter
however if they left because of high energy cost, they will evaluate returning if energy costs are lowered. and sustainable
Trump wont crater the US economy and would spin an about face if his plan goes off the rails
Buying hat spin would be difficult for the electorate and his ego would be punished

And the primary reason that the manufacturing was offshored was because China and Mexico pay 1/8th of the wages of a western employee. Never mind the additional employment overhead costs of US employers like the most expensive health care costs on the planet.

It wasn't because Mexico has cheap electricity that the automakers moved their operations there. Electricity costs are a factor in any manufacturing but not as much in the heavy industries like primary resource refining of say iron/steel, copper, aluminium etc.

As for Trump doing an about face if he craters the economy...by the time, and if, his bullshit bravado ever gets organized enough to put into action... he'll be out of office. You can't build a simple natural gas elelctrical generating station in less than five years even if you are shovel ready an have the approved engineered drawings, permits and contracts in place. And Trump, having been a builder before, knows how long it takes to build a simple skyscraper or hotel. He's full of shit and knows it. But he knows you guys will believe whatever he says.

I agree with you that this solar and wind energy is stupid expensive and a long way to being cost effective, never mind actually green! And it is a quantum leap in materials science away from becoming cost effective or green.

The "green energy insanity" hasn't actually hit our electrical bills yet. Yes, it is stupid and costs way too much but it is all being absorbed and hidden in gov't subsidies and grants.

Here in Ontario we pay under ten cents a kw/h. The Ontario gov't previous FIT programme that paid private solar and wind farms to provide electricity was paying EIGHTY THREE CENTS PER KW/H!!! So if you have a $100 monthly electric bill, it would be $800 a month!

As for "de-regulation", I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that. The de-regulation of building energy plants? de-regulating the property rights of landowners for transmission corridors? De-regulating private (publicly traded) companies pricing?

I know "deregulation" is a catchy phrase..like "green energy", but most of the problem with the regulatory process is simply time delays. Which is not as big of a factor in the price of delivered electricty as the actual cost of construction and the natural gas etc.

My guess is the board of John Deere is re-evaluating its current CEO's strategy.
Can he bully all of Corporate America ,? No he can not
That said a lot of corporate America supported him vs Harris and they knew tariffs were on the table with him
the stock market certainly prefers Trump so far and it is a good measure of corporate sentiment ..... long term

Trumps goals are pretty lofty and there are a lot of constraints (some of your points are valid ) and powerful interests who oppose hm.
That said there will be changes, deregulation of energy and there will be reshoring
how much?
time will tell

Biden and his team spent four years tying up the the oil and gas industry with regulations
day one Biden cancelled a pipeline
Biden claimed they granted lots of drilling permits , but quietly denied feeder pipeline permits to the same drilling sites
nobody was going to invest in drilling those sites if you cant get the product to market.

re electrical power plants
how many Fossil fuel generating plants were shut down over the past decade or relegated to back up for wind / solar for political reasons ?
trump will remove the subsidies and tax breaks for the wind / solar making them uneconomical
he could even apply those same subsidies and tax breaks to the shuttered gas fired plants if it drives the incentives he wants

the greens will go berserk , but that matters not to him

USMCA renewal is in July 2026, a year and a half away. Trump said that he said he would do a 25% tariff on Canada via executive order from "day one"

But not on day 1 which is his promise which he will 100% do, much like how he said he would end the war on the first day because that is completely possible [he sarcastically said]

Maybe Trump Norris actually does think he is Chuck Norris.

Maybe that's why he doesn't want immigrants

Aata majhi satakli!

Well to be fair, Trump lost his mind ages ago.

Translation for you non-Spanish speaking Trump lovers and haters

"In our conversation with President Trump, I explained to him the comprehensive strategy that Mexico has followed to address the migration phenomenon, respecting human rights. Thanks to this, migrants and caravans are assisted before they arrive at the border. We reiterate that Mexico's position is not to close borders but to build bridges between governments and between peoples"

"Then we will stop sending Wood for housing development." has to be a joke

In 2023, the United States Department of Commerce (Commerce) increased the duty rate on Canadian softwood lumber exports to 14.54%:

This^^^

Softwood lumber has been a contentious issue with the Americans for years and came to a boiling point under Trumps previous administration.

Actually wind and solar the cheapest forms now.
The Canadian oil&gas industry gets billions in subsidies and its still more expensive.

Our Government should bring up with Donny Boy the fact that Canadians are being killed by the US guns that are being smuggled into Canada:

This should be a bargaining chip against the USA, and not just the Americans interest!!
I'm pretty sure the Americans and Donald in particular, could care less about this issue. The demand is by gangs on the Canadian side and they just know where they can easily get their hands on guns and it's also a profitable endeavour.
