United should have destroyed Inter. They had so many opportunities to score in the first half. Completely dominated them.

All this done with a weakened defense, front line and playing in Italy which has not been kind to United in the past.

20 matches undefeated in CL play.

Back to Old Trafford and United are going to bury Mourinho and his wank squad. :)

It wasn't that big an achievement for Liverpool; Juve beat Real home and away.

The officiating in the Chelsea-Juve game was fair so I can live with the result...unlike the Inter-Mandive United match. Chiellini still isn't fully recovered from injury, missed his assingment and Drogba scored. Ranieri didn't start Marchisio, he's carrying an injury as well, but had to use him anyway with all the turnovers Tiago gave to Chelsea. Juve aquitted themselves well, if more of the walking wounded return, a one goal defecit wont be insurmountable.

Drogba is a horse.

what are you wacky!!! beating Real Madrid at home without Gerrard and a Torres that was not fully fit is not a big achievement!!!

on a side note for your curling lovers out there, TSN is gonna pull one on us again in the next round, looks like the quarter finals will not be shown because of that so exciting "sport"

Well I know it's only one game but the play of Real and Roma and Inter to some degree has been shocking. I was expecting a lot more form those teams or is the EPL that much better than Seria A and La Liga. Also, I know Bayern is a very good team but to go into Lisbon and deliver an ass-whoopin, I would not want to be facing them in the 1/4s.

Wow. An Italian talking about buying referees?
Yes it was a good joke...just like England not buying the referee in 1966.:p

Roma is schizofernic team; they defeated a very good Genoa team 3-0 at home, then they traveled to Bergamo and shat themselves 0-3 against Atalanta. Being a supporter, they can drive you to drink. As for Inter its 50/50 provided the officiating is fair.

Real has dissipated since Capello left and all the money they spent on players hasn't made any difference. If Zenit had a better defense they would be facing Liverpool.

I guess Arsenal-Roma is a fair match then because similar to Roma you never know what you're going to get. In the same month that Arsenal beat ManU and Chelski, they lose to Stoke, Man City and Aston Villa.

Thanks for the heads up. I usually sneak away/late lunch to a pub/restaurant in the core to watch the games. Does any one know a pub/bar in the financial district with Setanta? I know McVeigh's has it but perhaps not as rough.
Mission accomplished, St. Louis Bar and grill on King, east of Yonge has Setanta. Setanta is carrying the Liverpool-Real game on Tues and Arsenal-Roma on Weds. TSN carrying shuffle board on Tues and Wed, TLN carrying the other games.

C'mon Gunners!!

It will be an English sweep this week.

Real is too inconsistent to overcome Liverpool and the Italian teams (except Inter) have too many injuries and not enough reserves. It depresses me to say this, I will not be in Rome in May.:(

Juventus 2 Chelsea 2
Liverpool 4 Unreal Madrid 0

Well I got the first half of the equation correct.

Juve played a very brave game, but the lack of a healthy playmaker hurt them. Chiellini got red carded for a few too many borderline tackles but his courage cannot be faulted. Tiago played his best game as a zebra, he wont be back for next season but he can leave Torino with his head held high. Should they fail tommorow, Inter will have no excuse.

As for Real...who's wacky now Toffeeboy.;)

very impressed with the Reds performance today I was really fearing 10 guys behind the ball and a complete defensive lock down. Now I would prefer Bayern or Villareal in the next round as I dont think either of them are real contenders despite Sporting's complete collapse.

After the first night there were no perfect predictions. Juventus ruined a lot of predictions, I guess we didn't see the Hiddink effect or is it the Drogba effect? Smallsaltamontes was the only one to pick Chelsea but he screwd up by picking Real. DB23 is bring up the rear with only one correct prediction and the only one to pick Pana.

Although there will be no easy games next round, I would not want to be facing Bayern. Their confidence and belief have to be high after the thumping they gave Sporting.

What pool is this?

Juventus ruined alot of perdictions? Essien returns; Sissoko joins Camoranesi and De Ceglie on the injury list - advantage Chelsea. Chiellini had Drogba under control, had he not been red carded for toilet talking the ref, the Ivorian would not have scored. In the end there was no Drogba or Hiddink factor, injuries did Juve in.

Real Madrid fired Capello, assuming that they would be better off without him.
