Date: Feb 05, 2011
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

* Champ Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort (for middleweight title)
* Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
* Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha
* Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones
* Antonio Banuelos vs. Miguel Torres

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

* Paul Kelly vs. Donald Cerrone
* Chad Mendes vs. Michihiro Omigawa

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

* Demetrious Johnson vs. Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto

This card could be one of the better ones in a long time, it has all the ingredients.

Silva vs Belfort.........Belfort has the qiucker hands but has been relatively inactive for a while and has never demonstrated a great gas tank. Silva by 4th round TKO.

Griffin vs Franklin..... Both fighters are relatively even skill wise but Griffin is the much bigger man and should be able to wear down Rich en route to a UD victory.

Ellenberger vs Rocha..Ellenberger.

Bader vs Jones.......Jones has destroyed very wrestler that they have put in front of him so why would this be any different. Bader only chance is to put him on his back and with jones' long reach and athleticism i don't expect that to happen. Jones by 1st round GnP.

Banuelos vs Torres... hopefully training in montreal will reinvent Torres to claim past glory. Torres by UD.

Interesting fights. I'll take Silva 2nd R TKO. Wouldn't surprise me if Belfort can get a knockdown and follow up with a barrage of strikes, he's that explosive.

Got Franklin. He's intelligent in forming strategies and is able to stick to it. I don't expect size to be a factor if this turns out to be a stand up battle and if this is the case, Franklin is the more polished technical striker. Franklin UD.

Both Bones and Bader are promising prospects and I hate to choose one, I pick Jones, 2nd round TKO. Jone's has more tools to finish the fight and being under Greg Jackson's wing points him in the right direction.

First one I'll watch all the way through for a long time.
Very interesting
And lets all remember that I am 27/30 on the last 6 UFC's - not bad at all

Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
OK here it is - Belfort by TKO rd 2 - I know I'm crazy but I got 5-1 on $70
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
Griffin by unanimous
Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha
I like Jake here to get a submission rd 1
Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones
Could be FOTN and Bader has a good chin and can take punishment but I'll take Bones TKO rd 3
Antonio Banuelos vs. Miguel Torres
Torres easy KO rd 1

For those looking for a free internet link, I understand atdhe.net domain has been shut down by US government. However, the same people have now set up a new domain www.atdhenet.tv

Anyone know what time this starts, and what time the last couple of fights are likely to be on?

Prelims on SPIKE at 9pm
Main card at 10pm PPV
Last 3 fights sometime between 11:30pm and 1:00am as usual
Apparently there is a Facebook event at 8:30pm carrying the Yamamoto fight as part of some Japanese promo

Vitor just got KTFO!!!!!
A front heel kick to the chin?
Never seen that before.
Spider, love him or hate him, is still the real deal.

Silva is the best fighter in MMA history.

The sport could use a heavyweight like him.

He's is one of those rare figures in sports that make the other pros look like amateurs, because he's so naturally gifted and endowed with superior talent. The stars always align for him because he's destined to shine.

You could see that Silva was bored and starting to clown around. Then Belfort caught him with a couple of shots, so Silva paid attention, and knocked him out in about 30 seconds. Too bad that Silva's talent is not in someone with some more commitment to always fighting with intensity.

What do you think. Is it too early for Jon Jones to get a title shot? UFC 128 is only a month away. Not much time to prepare. Also, I would have liked to see him in one more fight before a title shot.

I heard that this was the last fight of Jones current contract. Is this a ploy of Dana White to make him sign and sign cheap?

Bah, MMA is a shitty sport. Pretty much a joke. I can't wait for people to come around to that fact so we can re-focus on boxing.

See how winded Franklin and Griffin were by the 3rd round? They wouldn't last two rounds in a boxing match.

There are too many variables in MMA with so many arbitrary boundaries set on them, to call it a sport. In MMA you also have different disciplines in the same environment - you've got wrestlers fighting guys with martial arts experience. It's ridiculous.

Why is the 100 meter dash so popular? It's the simplest event in all of track and field. The athletes run in a straight line. The winner is clearly the best man. In MMA, you can never really know who the best fighter is, with the exception of a Silva. But then again the sport is so new and limited, even Silva could be hugely overrated since there is a paucity of talent in the sport.

In boxing, choosing the better fighter is easier. Their offense is limited to their hands. In car racing, it's like a long distance run - whoever crosses the finish mark wins. Single player sports kept simple has always been the recipe for success.

The only time complexity works in sport is when it's team sports. In hockey, you need to get the puck past the goalie, in basketball you have to sink the basketball. Simple enough, but the players are all individuals with different skills and group strategies are required. This is where the factors of leadership, coaching, and execution in offense and defense come into play. It's a real life chess match.

p4p the best in the world spider is. I truly think that he could seriously hurt any opponent he faces with just leg kicks if he desires too. He has soo much weapons to use against opponents its scary. IMO I don't think we've scene what Anderson can really do since no one can push him to pull out all his arsenal. I really think he toy's with 90% of his opponents since coming to the ufc. KO via front kick? come on.

I would much rather see Spider fight Jon Jones rather GSP. Spider would destroy GSP.

BTW I picked Vitor to ko Silva.

You do realize that Sonnen dominated Silva for 4.5 rounds right?

GSP will not stand and trade with Silva make no mistake about it. He will put him on his back from the get go and will not let himself be triangled either.

Wrestler's are his weakness and GSP is the best MMA wrestler in the UFC. That alone gives him an excellent chance.

I don't know what the problem was. I couldn't get the fight last night, even at the sites suggested. Maybe a software or browser issue. Thanks dj1470 for your suggestions.

Having not seen the fight, maybe I should withhold comment, but these people saying Silva is unbeatable, that he was bored, that he was playing with his opponent, I think you are way overestimating him. I love watching Silva. He is my favourite MMA fighter. But he is human. He can be beaten. He does get tired. He can't always dominate an opponent at will. The fight does not always go the way he wants it or plans it. One of these days, he will train a little less hard, or he'll come up against an opponent a little more skilled, and he'll lose. But he sure is fun to watch.

My other most favourite MMA fighter is GSP. I'm hearing talk of a match between those 2, I guess because both fighters seem to have run through all credible opponents in their weight class.

I guess the big question there would be, "Can GSP take Silva down?" I'd put my money on Silva.

It looks more and more like a GSP/Spider fight will never ever happen.
So every yahoo and his mom will continue to compare the two and make idiotic statements about who is better
GSP would be stupid to go up (he never will) and yes he would get killed fighting Spider at 185 every welter would as every middle has found out
Spider is also not stupid and won't cut dramitic weight to get to 170 - I mean Silva walks around at almost 200+
Besides there is more money and fame for Spider to fight one of the big name light-heavy Americans like he's already done

OH BTW everybody catch how I was once again 4/5 in my picks? Now that's 31/35 in the last 6 UFC's.
Should have been 5/5 but I took Vitor only because I got 5-1 on a bet (my head said go with Spider but I couldn't help it)
