Arlovski was "TKO'd", I feel it was a total rip off and way to soon to call whether or not he could "intelligently defend himself". He rocked Sylvia with his flurry and I think he was shocked to see Sylvia get rocked so soon. He didn't take advantage like he did in the first fight and stood there in amazement. Had he taken Sylvia to ground 'n' pound it would be over in a more dramatic fashion. Sylvia came back and rocked Arlovski with a right of his own and the Pit Bull fell forward. I know usually when a fighter falls forward it means 'lights out' but in Arlovski's case he was up after the call but it was too late since Herb Dean decided otherwise. All I can say is Sylvia is gonna get a shit-kicking in Arlovski vs. Sylvia III because Arlovski will come out of this loss and work harder than ever before. Can't wait to see it and I hope Sylvia doesn't use Matt Hughes' tactics and have Arlovski wait two years before the UFC management has to jump in and confirm the bout (just like Hughes did with St. Pierre for those that don't know)

In the other main event Ortiz vs. Griffin was an amazing fight. Ortiz owned Griffin in the first round and I think overwhelmed him as well. But Griffin has heart, this guy kept fighting when the average guy would've thrown in the towel. He came back in the second and third and put up a fight but it was more even at that point, and Ortiz had done the damage in the first round. I see a re-match with this fight in the near future as well.

Diaz vs. Sherk was exactly like every other Nick Diaz fight in the past. Diaz waits for his opponent to attack and throws a flurry of punches. I give Diaz credit because when you look at his physique, this guy is really skinny but that is because he is 6' tall and most of the others in is class are under 5'10". Nobody really owned this fight as it was like a boring boxing match.

I have to completely agree Kathleen

I too am a fan and a participant. Your assessment of the UFC fighters skills is accurate. I like Arlovski but against Fedor he would be owned and he is still the best in the division. The only fighters that UFC has that may do o.k. in Pride are Georges St. Pierre ( very talented) and Matt Hughes, perhaps Rich Franklin. UFC's talent pool is very poor.

Once the sport gets more attention than it currently has, some talent that parallels St. Pierre's athletic abilities may pop up. Til then, the talent lies with Pride...

Ortiz vs. Griffin - Forrest is a blade. He is one of the few fighters I truly hate. He always acts so smug, so arrogant, and little to back it.
In terms of skill, I agree, he is nothing special. But he does make up for it with heart. It seems no matter how much he gets hit, he just keeps coming back.
Still, I was surprised how well he did against Tito. Either Tito spent too much energy in the first round, trying too finish early and gassed or that knee injury he had, started bothering him more from the second round on.
What else surprised me, was how the fans turned on him. In the beginning of the fight they were cheering him and then at the end booed him. Strange, considering this was Tito's hometown.

Pride is so much better. Especially the heavyweights. Fedor, Nogueira, Crocop and several more are better than anything that the UFC has to offer.

Sylvia had better enjoy that win because Arlovski will be taking that belt back as soon as he gets a rematch. He got careless and got caught. I doubt it will happen again.

I have to agree with everyone as well.

The Arlovski fight was stopped too soon. I didn't think that Silvia was landing anything serious while Arlovski was down. Arlovski looked to be hiding his true feelings during the interview. I belive that's why he didn't want to speak english at first. He probably wanted to say that he couldn't believe the stupidity of the referee. Why wasn't big john refereeing that fight?
I think that Tito had some ring rust I also feel that he was shocked after Griffing survived the first round. I have to repsect griffin's heart even if I dislike him as a person. He rubs me the wrong way, like Hughes and Baroni. I can't stand those guys. I just hope that Gracie kicks Hughes ass.
Has St.Piere fought Hughes yet? I would like to see Mir and Arlovski go at it.
It would be nice to see some cross-promotion between Pride and UFC. I haven't watched Pride in a while, but will have to check it out after reading some of the previous posts.
Whos' gonna win between Shamrock and Ortiz?

Pride vs.UFC

Perhaps Pride is waiting til UFC has more presence to capitalize on the potential revenue. Most North American's are aware of UFC, but still do not know about the awesome talent in Pride.

To highlite what an animal Fedor is check this out, Randleman did not even phase him...

There are many more highlites of him, but without question, the guy is a machine!

I think the only guy who could give Fedor a run is Mark Hunt
Here is a new Highlite clip of the E Bro's

GSP is fine. Hughes was already scheduled to fight Royce Grace. The GSP/Hughes fight won't happen till the fall (Sept I think).

Funny you should mention Mark Hunt. I don't know if Fedor could knock him out (Crocop hit him with a high kick and he didn't even flinch), but he would beat him pretty easily by ground and pound I think.

Wow, did Hunt and Fedor fight each other? If so, that's news to me. What was the result?
