URGENT Sexwork Poll
This poll may not be up for long

The O'Reilly factor is the most watched news talk show in the U.S. and while you folks in Canada have it so great legally compared to the U.S., we request your voting in a poll about sexwork laws in the U.S.

Whether or not you are a fan of Fox commentator Bill O’Reilly, I encourage you to log onto http://www.billoreilly.com and answer the current poll question: “Does the US Government have the right to criminalize sexual activity between consenting adults?” This appears on the lower-right part of the page.

Most of O'Reilly's audience is very conservative as he is. He is totally against the idea of sexwork as degrading but he has said people should have the right to what they please in private.

With that bias to the poll of mostly conservative listeners, with 16,000 having taken the poll I am thrilled to see 68% is saying "NO", (the US government does NOT have the right to criminalize sexual activity between consenting adults.

I bet religious right groups or sending notes to folks to vote Yes.

I encourage sex positive folks to make your vote count and vote No.

I suspect the vote will be reported on "The Factor" which has by far the highest audiance of similar talk news shows in the U.S., and it may be a prelude to a show on the pros and cons for the laws against sexwork.

Alien..I do believe Orielly has it right and takes the stance of a true conservative..not be be confused with the Religious Right. The stance of a true conservative before the term got hijacked by a bunch of competing agendas would be that "consenting adults" have the right to privacy in the sex act within their own home. This has nothing to do with kiddy porn...that is something thrown in to fan the flames. Orielly has it right if he says the government should mind it's own business under these circumstances.

O'Reilly rocks for he exposes hypocracy wherever it stands. As long as people understand that what he is advocating here isn't sanctioning incest or child molesters ( yes the kids can "consent" in some sick person's minds ). Hey..maybe this is the ONE time that O'Reilly could be said to have something in common with that great libreal who just about killed this country, Pierre E Trudeau who said wisely (even a blind squirrel finds his nuts) " the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation."

think of a box, with one axis representing economic freedomvs government intervention, and the other representing moral freedom vs government intervention....

those who are pro-free market are ether libertarian or moral conservatives (the religious right)...

there are no easy labels for those who are socialistic, but those who want government invention in moral issues are people like feminists and politically correct types. those who want government intervention in economic affairs, but not on issues of self expression and morality tend to be people in the arts community - libertarian solcialists.

O'Reilly is a demogogue. Likes getting attention by causing controversy. Period. My opinion is that he generally espouses conservative viewpoints because that is the trend, nowadays, and because conservatives like simple answers to complex problems. Especially simple answers that legitimize giving rich white guys even more power and money than they already have.
