Trump and Bukele refuse to return Abrego Garcia.

This means that ANYONE can now be taken off the street in the USA - for any reason - denied any sort of review and hearing and sent to El S and killed there.

This is major. This changes everything.

First we start with some unknown, slightly sketchy Latino guy. Then we start kidnapping CNN reporters, judges and Dem politicians. And once they're in El S on whatever bullshit "we made a mistake" reason, they simply get killed there with no recourse.

Damn, if only there was some way to predict this.

I mean, I'm sure it's happened before, like in history. If only someone had written it down, or condensed it into some kind of poem or something.

Maybe even like a 3 word slogan to remind us to not to forget.

We could have like, taken a day a year to remember what happens when authoritarians get into power, and why we suffer through the slow churn of democracy and due process and human rights. And what happens when we don't.

Maybe we could even put some kind of flower on our jackets to help us remember...

All those latino people who voted for Trump made their own beds. As did all the small business owners who are going out of business overnight because of the imposition of Tariffs who voted for Trump.

I'm not gloating. In fact, I'm astonished that so many people voted for such an obvious liar and con man. But his biggest attraction to the MAGA base is hate and racism.

Now they are starting to live their lives under the thumb of an unstable Dictator who uses his office as vengence when the mood strikes him.

Funny how the SCC's dominoes are falling since Roe v Wade was overturned. Now, they are being ignored by Trump, both a King and a Court Jester.

This has been the clear direction they've been moving in for a while.
They still haven't quite gotten to straight up "fuck you" - they want to have some kind of fig leaf that they aren't ignoring the courts.
But they totally are.

My take is that Trump just hoisted his tiny, fearful balls and folded again.

Sen Van Hollen was allowed to meet Abrego Garcia and - I believe - that means that Bukele will send Garcia back to America. (Trump will publicly distance himself and disapprove, but he clearly pays Bukele to do whatever shit Trump wants)

The new issue is getting a list of deportees from Trump and getting Bukele to return them all, so those poor fucks can have decent due process in the USA.

Bukele felt he had to tweet that Abrego Garcia would be staying in El Salvador.
So I think you might be a bit optimistic here.

More pressure is needed.
They aren't coming back just because it would be the right thing to do.

That's great news. Keep the MS-13 terrorist gang member thug and wife beater locked up in his homeland.

Grateful to the President of El Salvador for his decision.

You aren't intellectually capable of understanding all the "due process" arguments are you?

Or the stuff about "burden of proof"?

Tell me if you can understand it and what you think it means and why lawyers and judges think it's important?

Trump is now distancing himself from the Garcia case. I wonder if he's going to throw Bondi under the bus?

Bukele shamed Van Holen.
He allowed him to come to El Salvador then put a roadblock out before the prison and refused to let him in.
That's embarassing.

You realize that's a win for Van Holen.

Van Holen's purpose is to show Americans that the El Salvadorian Gulag is cruel and unusual, and convince Americans that sending people there is not what they want. He is trying to rescue Abrego Garcia, but he's also trying to change hearts and minds of centrist Americans.

Yes and no.
We'll see if he can sell it or if this is just El Salvador saying they don't care.

He was in the US illegally. He was due to be deported back to his homeland. That is all.

If you're in El Salvador or any other country illegally, they'll kick you out just the same.

Multiple judges and law enforcement officials identified his MS-13 ties as have El Salvador's officials... hence his captivity in prison where he belongs.

Stop crying over illegals, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, wife beaters, drug dealers, robbers, and gang members.

Americans want safer streets and communities.

He is here to troll.
There is no use engaging him or talking about constitutional rights with him lol.

And then he caved and sent Garcia out.
Clearly, even with Trump's backing, he doesn't feel he can just tell Van Hollen to fuck off.
Pressure is having an effect, small as it is.
