Vandals have taken down the Parkside Drive speed camera in Toronto for the third time in recent weeks

Dozens upon dozens, if not more than a hundred homes line the east side of this residential road and many, if not the majority of which have no parking space on their property and like most of urban, inner-city, residential neighborhoods in Toronto, the property owners are allowed permitted parking on their residential road.Maybe because it is a (congested) road, not a parking lot.
Also, there is no NO PARKING on the west side of this residential road Parkside Drive from Bloor down to the lake.
This is a residential road, NOT a road artery to be abused by those rollicking and racing through it.
What defines a successful city is its people, neighborhoods and communities, NOT free and open, wide and fast, scofflaw ridden, lawless roadways.

The company that supplies the cameras is responsible for maintaining and replacing them if necessary. The city however doesn't generate income if the cameras are broken. Which is their prime objective.

If you stop at an intersection with a red light camera (when the light is red) before you proceed, you won't get a ticket. You have to run the red light at speed in order to trigger it. This is to prevent it from sending out tickets to drivers stopping to make a right on a red. Some Staten Island drivers are putting their petals to the metal — tying bunches of fake flowers over local speed cameras to keep them from working.
More than a dozen bunches of the bogus buds have been yanked down from devices in the borough in recent weeks, and the city Department of Transportation has recruited the NYPD to help find the perpetrators behind the blossoming road hack.
“Speeding kills. Tampering with speed cameras is unacceptable and puts lives at risk, a DOT rep told The Post. “We are actively working with the NYPD, and the perpetrators will be held accountable for jeopardizing public safety.”
Some locations of the 14 bouquet-covered cameras included Hylan Boulevard in Dongan Hills and Armstrong Avenue in Eltingville, according to various social-media posts.
It’s unclear when the bouquet protest started, if the same cameras were targeted multiple times or what the penalties are for tampering with a speed camera. The DOT did not provide a list of locations where blocked speed cameras were found.

Why is the speed limit so goddam low ? 40 km/h...... bicycles go faster.
Last year I was visiting my mom in the neighbourhood I grew up in. The speed limit within the subdivision was 40 KM for decades. Driving past one particular school they dropped it down to 30 KM and installed a camera. I was having a conversation with her so I guess that's why I didn't notice the signs. Got a ticket for 43 in a 30- on a Saturday!
I've seen Toronto officials on the news say it's not for a new revenue source it's about safety- yet they're issuing tickets for that speed when schools out. Probably are 24/7 during the summer too.
