On the right
Tried to get a reservation last Tuesday night. Waitlist since last week. Nothing before 9:45.
Those vegans have been great for business.

I have nothing against Vegans or vegetarians or people with strong beliefs for any subject, so long as they don't try to impose these beliefs on me. The really stupid thing about the protests at Antler is that you cannot serve true wild game in Ontario since all meat must come from inspected farms, or go through some form of health inspection. So all the deer and boar, etc served is farm raised. In that sense, Antler is no different than the Keg, or any other restaurant which serves farmed raised beef or chicken or other types of meat. So newsflash for anybody wanting to try true wild venison - you'll have to go out and get it yourself or hope that a friend will give you some of theirs. I believe that Quebec allows restaurants to source true wild game, but not Ontario. Side note: For anybody trying venison for the first time - order it medium rare or below. The worst thing for venison is to overcook it because the fat content is lower than beef. And because it's farmed and inspected - no risk of parasites. Overcooked, it becomes dry and tough. Great with some form of wild berry reduction.

Venison should be eaten, there's too many deer. Better that they end up in my freezer rather than having them starve to death in winter. There are just not enough large predators to keep deer populations under control. Read about what a population explosion of deer did to Wyoming. Rabbits should be food as well.

Hunting large game is not a pleasure, it has to be butchered pronto. It doesn't take long for bacteria and botuli to contaminate the meat. This hunter has access to cold storage which helps.

Could somebody please tell these retards that plants are living species as well.

So every time a vegan eats plants he/she has just killed a living thing also

What confuses me is why this particular establishment is the target of continual protests? One would think these protesters would be choosing a different restaurant each time. And while I don't know the environmental impact of farm raised game animals, I'm thinking it can't be worse than the usual farm animals and there impact. I'm hoping there's a chance they raise them on a farm but give them some freedom of movement versus chickens which are cooped up and rely less on manmade feed or corn versus grass.

Seems to be a waste of time and effort where the result is clearly the opposite of the intended goal.

They had a sign in the window that advertised “Venison is the new Kale” if I recall... If I recall, that seemed to be the messaging that set the protest group off in the first place. I vaguely remember that the owner was asked to take it down, which he obviously wouldn’t do, and here we are.

As a 'retarded' vegan I'd like to give my two cents.

Our movement isn't just about saving the lives of animals but making sure that the planet will survive. Industrialized agriculture is the biggest contributor to climate change. We believe that other being were not meant for our exploitation. We believe that every life should respected.

Antler is not the only restaurant that kill animals to feed the masses but they do have foie gras which is an extremely inhumane meat. This is the other half of why the original protests began, not just because of a sign about venison and the dismemberment of an animal in front of a group of peaceful protesters. Foie gras is made by force feeding ducks and geese fat, it is actually so violently done that foie gras is illegal in California and many other countries like India, Austrialia, Argentina, Brazil and many that are apart of the EU.

While I don't think many share my opinion on the ethics of food, I do suggest learning about why the vegan movement is the fastest growing demographic ever in history. And if you really want to know more about this, grab a bucket and watch Earthlings. You'll cry, you'll barf (trust me, everyone throws up when they see what actually happens), you'll see things from a bigger perspective.

In closing, to quote Sir Paul McCartney, if slaughterhouses has windows, no one would eat meat.

There is protesting and then there is bullying. This is bullying.

Protest to the government to ban Foie gras if that is the issue, protest slaughterhouses, etc.

Protesting one restaurant only, on a weekly basis, is an attack on that business, not a protest.

As far as those using the "R" word - come on guys. Be polite and find another word.

Inuit in the arctic north of the treeline mostly eat meat and animal products and they don't have health problems

The Inuit Paradox – High Protein & Fat, No Fruits/Vegetables and yet Lower Heart Disease and Cancer

Want to know about a group of people who eat primarily only meat and fat, very little fruits and vegetables and are healthier than any other group of people? Well meet the Inuit from the frozen North. They seemed to eat all the things that are blamed for heart disease and cancers (meat and fat) yet somehow had little to no diseases of modern man. Let’s learn a little more about them. Below you will find several resources and reading materials on them (to keep you busy while I do my taxes for the next couple days!). But here are the highlights:

What's amazing about those videos isn't the weight loss or malnourishment. If you eat poorly balanced diets with foods low in calories, you're going to lose weight.

But what is amazing is that these people become skeletons with scaly skin and disintegrating teeth and somehow and some reason don't change.

Crazies.....
Plenty of healthy vegans. It's more difficult than a typical mixed diet but if they actually pay attention to eating habits it's not that hard.

And I'm sure vegans can make some pretty convincing videos about meat eaters being the "epitome of obesity".
