Thanks for posting! That escalator at Eaton’s College Street scared me so much as a child! Noisy, dark and narrow
I'm over there several times a summer, getting a tan, kiteboarding or just dropping anchor and swimming with friends off the back of the boat. And I've never seen any poop or even dirty water. Sometimes seaweed and logs wash up. Mind you, I don't go in at any Toronto beaches within 24 hours of any heavy thunderstorms, long periods of heavy when there is a chance that the Big Pipe storm sewer reservoir might be near capacity.
But this myth of dirty Toronto beaches is wrong. In fact, Hanlans Beach is internationally recognized and certified as Blue beach. The Inner Harbour is a different story altogether.
The Matador Club at 466 Dovercourt just North of College in 1980. Had been home to performances by Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell, Stompin’ Tom Connors and Leonard Cohen.
Hanlons Point was also the site of a nudist beach. Damn, didn't know that back then and never visited there.

As a kid I would go into one of these counter stores and ask the clerk for the plastic star that was on the bottle of Seagram's 5 Star Whiskey, he would give it to me, I'd throw it like a ninja star.
