You definitely didn't experience Yonge St. in the 90's then. Yonge St. is absolutely dull and grey compared to 1993 with all the store fronts with various colours, actual neon and paint, not glass, concrete and LEDs.
I did, but that is why I am saying today is better.
Guess you like the retro look more.

Gould St is where you see Sam the Record Man sign at left of picture.
Its Yonge-Dundas. It is in the name of the pic when I hover over it. Duh. lol.
And today is much better.
Here is the 1992 video, and this is how I remember it. Kinda dingy.
Much better today. More lively, more colours etc:

Not accurate enough, where are all the scooter-Ubers guys hanging out? In their drab dark clothing, dirty shoes, dirty bikes, dirty helmets?

Nothing dingy about it, maybe because it's not recorded in 4K and showing the true colours. A real Torontonian would miss those aesthetics and remember vividly how colourful everything was.
Today it's all glass and concrete, it's uniform in aesthetics and boring, nothing pops out like the signs of the entire 80's, 90's and early 00's.
Towering buildings, flat facades, all 2D with LED. 😴

Its the most recent pic from Google street view that I took a screenshot of, so I trust it is representative.
Uber guys in drab clothing? Like the suits in 1990? lol.
As for colours, we certainly have a lot of colours today. The big LED screens are beautiful and futuristic.
The glass buildings are stylish.
It isn't like the 1990 video shows a rustic green Toronto.
It is also cement, glass and concrete.
