I dont know if anyone will be able to help me or not, but its worth a try. I will be visiting Toronto in the near future for a week, and apart from a couple of planned visits of the adult kind, I dont really have much planned. I will basically have 4 nights free and 3 days, can anybody recommend what I should check out, or do during my visit? It dosent matter what the suggestions are, touristy, or otherwise, any help would be appreaciated.

Cheers!

I guess I was pretty vague, wasnt I?

Ok, I like the live music scene, rock, and skate punk type music I guess, but any decent live band.

I dont mind clubs, but I guess I would prefer a local bar type place, preferably with live music.

As far as the touristy stuff goes, I guess I should really have a look at the website myself. I dont mind theatre and such, but its a bit boring when you are in town on your own, so I doubt I will check anything out while in town.

Do you have a link for the tourism website?

from the type of music you like I would suggest hitting queen st.

There are many bars, night clubs and live music clubs located on the queen st strip and area from Dufferin St over to Yonge St.

live music: The Horeshoe, the 360,Reverb,The Black Bull, Healeys,Grossmans tavern(ran into Burton Cummings there one night who just happened to pop in an do a few tunes), Bamboo club,The Rex.

Heres a link for dance clubs:

the hotel you are staying at will help you out with what you are looking for, just ask.

If you have a day to spare you might want to check out Niagara Falls. In the past, whenever I had to entertain visitors to T.O. I would usually take them to places like the CN Tower (I think that every tourist sees it), Fort York and the Zoo.

I agree that for the music scene you will want to check out Queen West Between University Avenue and Bathurst Street.

In addition, Toronto is extremely multicultural (I know that people down under think that Melbourne is multicultural but I don’t think they comprehend what Toronto is like). This leads to an amazing variety of restaurants. Personally, I think that is the best part of Toronto. You can have Ethiopian one night, Greek the next, West Indian the next (not my favorite), Vietnamese the night after, than Tibetan and so on, never having to eat the same type of food twice in your trip. If you get homesick, they even have a couple of Australian bars.

If you are into it there are also some really good new and second hand bookstores (I always stock up on books when I am in TO). Depending on when you are here you migth be able to check out either the CNE or the Rolling Stones concert.

Thanks Someone,

I wont be in town for the stones, but I think (not certain) that I will be in town for the CNE.

I was just actually checking out Niagra Falls tours, so I think that will take up one of my days. I will definitely check out Queen street west, and the CN tower.

I will probably steer clear of the Australian bars, I dont really see too much point in going to those, there are plenty of them here! lol The restaurants sound good though, I might just go for a wander and pick one out every night.

If you are looking to "go for a wander" go to the Entertainment District. It is an area roughly bounded by Queen St. on the north, Front St./Wellington on the south, University on the East and Bathurst on the West. All in all about 12 square blocks. In that area there are over 280 licensed establishments from small clubs and pubs to huge dance clubs and lounges. A wide variety of restaurants from hamburgers to some of the top restaurants in town. While there is something every night, particularly on Queen St. and King (for restaurants) the busiest nights are Friday and Saturday when it is difficult to move and there are line-ups everywhere.
