After seeing what the provincial Liberals have done to destroy the economy of Ontario it will be a cold day in hell before I ever vote Liberal.

Rubbish Harris and his merry band fucked the Ontario economy so badly now the liberals are left holding the bag trying to recover.

Agreed. McGuinty was bad, Wynne is worse.

That said, those two are premiers. I keep federal and provincial politics separate.

Yes ... fiscal responsibility - only Harper understands it .. yet ... he inherited an economy running a surplus under the Liberals and every year he has been in power since - Harper has been running a deficit ! Harper is such a financial genius that he is surprised by an unexpected $1.9 Billion budget cash flow. How does a brilliant financial genius lose track of $1.9 billion ?? How do you justify classing someone who does not see $1.9 Billion dollars in a budget as a fiscal responsible leader ????

I also don't see abandoning our armed forces veterans and closing down facilities as a wise choice of budgetary restraint after passing a tax code that puts billions into the hands of the rich. That is why he is followed by veterans with an 'anybody but Harper' campaign.

Am I the only one that thought it crazy to have Wayne Gretzky endorsing Harper ? This is a guy who Harper took his vote making him a less significant Canadian because supposedly he doesn't understand or appreciate the issues of an election. Maybe Harper was right - Wayne Gretzky supports him so taking away his vote is a good thing.

I also really loath Harper's attack ads. Trudeau's main policy is legalizing marijuana ??? I realize it is targeted to the 'old class' (i.e. old farts) but they are annoying.

He has surrounded himself in convicted felons - the guy is slime through and through.

My problem is Harper is a disaster start too finish but I'm at odds who I should vote for. I'm guessing it will be the party most likely to get rid of him. Once again I'm having to vote against a disaster rather than for a platform I believe in. :frown:
There are three weak planks in your statement.

1) Harper went through a major global recession
2) prior to Harper, the Feds downloaded many expenses to the provinces...to "balance" the books.
3) Trudeau and Mulcair both encouraged Harper to, and voted for deficits, during the recent down turn.

And just how did Harper do that,...Teach,...???

Bearing in mind that manufacturing WAS the economy in Ontario,...the Fiberals idea of an economy is based on civil servants,...hows that working out Teach,...???

I know,...now we are going to hear all the BS about the conservatives supporting the exporting of oil,...guess what,...as the Fiberals were destroying manufacturing in Ontario,...exporting oil was guaranteed to replace the lost revenue from the demise of manufacturing in Ontario.

The previous governments of Quebec destroyed their economy when it was the center of commerce in Canada,...then guess what,...it left that leftist joke, and located elsewhere, for much the same reasons as now, Ontario is losing/lost its base.

I was leaning to Mulcair but his balanced budget promise just doesn't jive with all his NDP programs ( like healthcare, daycare, refugee settlement, etc). I think Justin has actually performed better than anticipated and those who call him stupid are just ************ haters in disguise. Anyway... Huck Farper!!!

very strange,,,, I used Justin's father's name and Terb replaced it with ************* huh?

Ontario Liberals have been in power 14 yrs. More than enough time to change the things Harris did that they didn't like.

I do not hate Bob Rea
In fact he appears to be a decent enough person
Unfortunately he was the most surprised person in the Province when he won & it showed

One was wonder why he left the NDP and moved to the liberals later
It turns out he determined the NDP dream is just that and the province just can not afford their agenda.
When faced with the hard truth of the situation he looked to the party insiders & the unions hoping for a compromise & they turned on him.
The NDP has their agenda & financial responsibility is not part of that equation

While it may be 25 years later, one does not easily forget a lesson learned
i.e. "Do not eat yellow snow" is a lesson one learns early and does not forget

John, "the budget will balance itself" is a quote which the Conservatives have taken out of context. It refers to the use of economic growth to grow the amount of government revenue, bringing the budget into balance. I would expect that virtually every government uses this process.

Too bad you can't learn any new lessons, otherwise you'd have to admit that Harper has singlehandedly made Rae look correct.
Either you'd have to say Rae did exactly what Harper did, run a deficit during a recession, or you'd have to admit that Harper added way more to our debt and deficit then Rae ever did.

How do you get the 407 back? Harris pissed away the proceeds
I used to be against the 407 deal. After years of increasing grid lock, I'm one of its biggest fans. These days, if you want to get across the city, it's the only way to go.

Did you see the report released this week that declared Mike Harris to be the best Premier ever in Canada?

It is a lease deal. It will come back by default. If Harris knew the Liberals would piss away billions without concern, he may have reconsidered.

Contrast this with the Liberals and Ontario Hydro. When it is gone, it is gone baby.

I still cannot believe noone has gone to jail for the Liberals destroying records related to their many corrupt and failed deals.
However, they are great politicians. They promise something to everyone, crank up the debt, and repeat. At some point, this comes crashing down though.
