Interesting guest on the Maury Povich show......

This guy is supposedly in Oklahoma and he likes to follow "Johns" around with a video camera and tape them picking up Street Walkers....he records and runs your tags, reports you to the police and calls your WIFE....he then proceeds to confront the unsuspecting couple to further catch them in the act....this guy isn't LE, I don't even think hes a P.I.

LOL

This guy is playing a very dangerous game...because you never know who exactly you're f*cking with until its too late. This guy is gonna get a major beat down one day if it hasn't already happened....I'd like to see that caught on tape :D

Hey if you want to play "vigilante" why not go after people that do real damage, instead of picking on "johns"......what a pussy.

Anyways, I can see this being a trend so for those of you who like to partake in the SW scene....watch your back....this trend is definitely gonna spread.

You've got more than that to worry about son.

I was out for my usual evening walk last night (Yes it finally got warm at night) and Toronto vice had two fake hooker traps set up on Queen West opposite Trinity Bellwoods Park and on Strachan at King. In the few minutes that I watched they hauled several away in handcuffs.

Already happening...

This has been happening already here in GTA and Ottawa. And it's more then one. There is a group of people with cameras and get this - a website. YES they also post the info (plate #'s and car make and model etc) on the Internet. I use to have the link but tossed it when I cleaned up my favs one day.

So much for a so-called free society . I thought women were supposed to be in charge of their bodies. As far as consenting men I guess we don't have rights either.

If some "do-gooder" gets their ass beat as a result of doing this and getting caught....can't say I'd feel sorry for them.

Who died and gave them the right to violate others privacy and publicly humiliate?..... Thats asking for trouble if I ever saw it.

Ok first things first.. if some asshat takes my picture without my permission, he had better have a damn good lawyer. My personal profile nor my personal property are public domain, as such the person who deems to play "judge and jury" had better have very deep pockets.

Secondly, a few years ago, I got a letter from the concerned citizens group in Hamilton. They stated that my vehicle had been parked on a well known hooker track. They went on to tell me what they were going to do with my plate number and how the police would likely be contacting me, regarding my habits. The funny thing about it was that I was attending a take back the street ralley with the Mayor, Mike Harris and shitload of other VIP types. I sent a copy of the letter to both Harris and to the mayor, both had a hell of a good laugh.

Actually, nobody needs your permission to take a photo of you and / or your car in a public place.

Yeah but if they are using that to threaten him on something without adequate proof, that spells a big problem for them. I'm sorry but taking a picture of a guy's license plate in the midst of "hooker ville" really proves nothing as you can see from Ham's story. It'll just boil down to their word vs yours and we all know where that goes.

Anybody that tries to play that lil game deserves to be sued for as much as one can get out of them....you can't just go around threatening people like that.....who gave them the right???

Granted if they have a problem with the prostistitution; instead of trying to do some half-assed vigilante job, by all means take your CONCERNS (not allegations) to the police. The police have to respond to public complaint. After all nobody wants to look like they're not doing their job right?

Yes, but you have to prove that it hurt you somehow. Anyone can make accusations and they CAN post your plate# and other info on the web. They can also use induendo with it, they are not breaking the law as far as I know. The only catch is is that they cant charge you with anything criminal.
I recently learned that its not against the law for someone to post your unlisted phone#

I didn't say it was against the law to do that...... the type of trouble I'm talking about here is civil which will mean $$$. Without adequate proof, wouldn't a stunt like that be Libel?

any Lawyers here to clear this up?

Where's a lawyer when you need one....LOL???

I'm still pretty sure that you have to prove that their accusations somehow hurt you. For example: Your wife believed the story and divorced you. Or you got fired from your job after your boss found out. I'm fairly certain of this but not 100% sure.

Sure... in order to successfully win a civil case you have to show some kind of damage....monetary, punitive, pain and suffering.

C'mon JH....someone accuses you of being a "John"...something generally seen by society as negative and "disgusting". All you have to claim is "Pain and Suffering"...done :)

And do you honestly think a judge is gonna award you a large sum of money??? I doubt it, he probably thinks you're guilty too. Heck he may even have his own black book full of SP's and he can see a hohopper like you coming from a mile away.

BTW Wouldnt it be funny if you were awarded $ 5000.00 for being falsely accused of being a 'John' and the next night you blew it all on escorts???

depends on your lawyer....and even if it was only a few thousand...thats a few thousand someone else would rather not pay a "john" stranger..... I'm positive they could find better things to do with that cash. Further, I'm sure you can sue for legal fees too.

as for the 5Gs...that would be a hoot lol

There are laws against taking your picture even in a public place. In Canada, we have the right to decide if we want our picture taken, what is done with it, and who can use it. If you accidently take a picture of person, no harm no foul, but to deliberately set out to photograph anyone for purposes that are at best invasive, you have no right. Civil courts aside, the blackmail factor or as our courts so nicely call it "imtimidation threats" are unlawful and we as citizens of this courtry are protected.

No there aren't.

In Canada, we have the right to decide if we want our picture taken,
No you don't.

what is done with it,
That's slightly more accurate, but still not really true. For example, a newspaper does not require your permission to publish your photo if it is deemed newsworthy.

It would require your permission, however, to use it in an ad.

and who can use it.
Again, that's only partially true. The person who took the photo actually has far more control over it than you do.

If you accidently take a picture of person, no harm no foul,
Huh? Are you just pulling stuff out of your ass?

but to deliberately set out to photograph anyone for purposes that are at best invasive, you have no right.
That's simply not true.

Civil courts aside, the blackmail factor or as our courts so nicely call it "intimidation threats" are unlawful and we as citizens of this country are protected.
That's a different issue. Extortion is illegal - taking pictures, for the most part, isn't.
