"Are there going to similar quotas (as there are in the business and academic worlds) in the olympics and nba so there is an equal chance for whites, asians, hispanics etc. to win ?"

We need affirmative action in basketball, baseball, football and track and field. It's only fair. Asians and whites are underrepresented in these sports.

  • The awards show was back on television this year. NBC opted not to air the 2022 ceremony in the wake of mounting criticism surrounding the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the organization that puts on the event.
  • During Tuesday's show, HFPA President Helen Hoehne alluded to the changes the organization has made to improve the diversity of its membership. “We commit to continue strengthening our partnership with Hollywood and with the worldwide fans who celebrate the best on film and television," she said. "We will continue to support groups that amplify a variety of voices and continue to add representation to our organization from around the world as we did this past year."
  • Host Jerrod Carmichael also touched on the HFPA's lack of diversity in his opening monologue. "I'm here because I'm Black," he said in reference to last year's controversy. And of course you subscribe to "Liberals of Tik tok" - which has become notorious.

One thing you have to realize is that everybody has an opinion and many of those opinions are not going to convince anyone that they make any sense. Libs of Tiktok hunts down the dumbest opinions that it can find and publishes them. These aren't mainstream liberal ideas. These are silly ideas that few are going to accept, aside from their owners.

If it makes you feel important to call these ideas out as "liberal", that's a little silly too. The vast majority of people that I know are pretty firm believers in punctuality. And they're liberal.

You set up these cartoonish straw men to justify your anger and impatience. But your targets are themselves individuals with no following and strange ideas who no one takes seriously - aside from you and your rightie buddies.

“Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the U.S., and identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend,” asserted the previous event description, which drew the ire of a DeSantis spokesperson.
“Discrimination of any sort is not welcome in the state of Florida, and we do not abide by the woke notion that discrimination should be overlooked if applied in a politically popular manner or against a politically unpopular demographic. We are fighting all discrimination in our schools and our workplaces, and we will fight it in publicly accessible places of meeting or activity,” Bryan Griffin told Fox News Friday.

The revised posting eliminates any reference to ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, and military veteran status.

“The Pathway to Hockey Summit is a career event, especially to encourage those that historically have not been exposed to hockey and all who are interested in learning more about career opportunities in the sport.”

The NHL distanced itself from the previous language as “not accurate,” suggesting that the intent was really to reach out to people unfamiliar with hockey.

“The Pathway to Hockey Summit is an informational and networking event designed to encourage all individuals to consider a career in our game – and, in particular, alert those who might not be familiar with hockey to the opportunities it offers,” the NHL spokesperson said.

The NHL seems to have extended its deadline for registration in light of the revised criteria.

Florida’s Voice reported that the original deadline for registration was Friday the 13th, with accepted applicants to be told on Tuesday Jan. 17. The updated posting says that they will now be told a week later, on Jan. 24.

Though the wording has been changed, reminders of the previous job search remain on career boards, such as ones from the University of Southern Californiaand the University of Pennsylvania. These postings still maintain that participants “must … identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability,” or be military veterans.

I'm really happy that I'm not young today. I would hate if I had to treat the Cancel Culture demographic like peers, and I won't be around anymore when they inherit power. It's not as if any of them are going to earn it through talent or charisma.
