I love Netflix, but it seems like I've watched everything worthwhile.

Here are my recommendations (I am not including well known movies and classics):

Documentary: Making a Murderer. Fascinating series about a man who was charged with a crime, but found not guilty after many years. Shortly after his release, he was charge with the murder of a woman. There is no doubt that the prosecutors and police were bitter about him being acquitted for the previous crime he was acquitted of, as it made them look incompetent. Could they have framed him as an act of revenge? It seems so. Riveting and captivating from start to finish. 5/5

Horror/suspense: Hush A deaf woman in an isolated cabin must use her wits to save herself from a murderer. This was really well directed, and reminds me of that movie Audrey Hepburn was in, where she played a blind woman who had to fend off an attacker. Hush keeps you on the edge of your seat. A great thriller. 4.5/5

Sci Fi: Ex Machina. I was blown away by this movie. If you are a sci fi fan, it may end up being your favorite. Utterly fascinating movie about a nerd who wins a contest in his company to test the latest invention of the company's CEO: an android. Does it pass the turing test? He has to find out. The android is an attractive female named Eva. There are several twists and turns in this riveting movie that raises interesting questions. Beautifully directed. 6/5

Comedy: Meet the Patels Very funny and enjoyable comedy documentary about a young Indian man who is searching for a wife. He decides to follow family tradition and marry a Patel, but that leads to all sorts of absurd revelations about the tradition. Very, very entertaining and funny. 5/5

Comedy: Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Oddly enough, something from Andy Samberg that I really like. Unlike the normal cop shows, this one doesn't bother with getting too serious, and is generally quite funny. All seasons are out.

Drama: Broadchurch - British drama show about an investigation of a murdered boy.

Historical*: The Last Kingdom. Has a Vikings feel to it (also set around 8-11th Century England). *Historical in a sense that it takes some events that happened (Danish invasion of England, Conversion to Christianity) and essentially filled in the rest (think Titanic).

Science Fiction: Doctor Who

Also second OP's recommendation of Ex Machina. Incredible movie.

Sherlock - Because it's Sherlock, and it's awesome

Breaking Bad is an amazing series, as someone posted. That would be my choice for Drama.

Haven't seen Orange is the New Black, but since it's recommended multiple times, I think I'll take a look.

House of Cards is the only reason to watch NetFlix and Kevin Spacey is the only reason to watch House of Cards. I've heard that Jessica Jones is quite good too

Not sure if I'd agree House of Cards is the only reason, but it's work the price of NetFlix all by itself.

I love Netflix, but it seems like I've watched everything worthwhile.
You can buy a lot of movies on Amazon.ca for low prices, e.g. a DVD film for 1 cent plus S/H [often about $3.50].
The selection is much larger than Netflix.

I also enjoyed this one. Has some similarities to Blade Runner.

Just watched MI5 a movie...really quite good in the John LeCarre George Smiley vein. I would recommend it....a very no name cast, not your Hollywood style blockbuster.
