So drive to the Brewerys then and but from them directly. Who cares who's selling it. The brewers still have to give their share to the government
We don't all the luxury of living by a brewery. I object to the ludicrous policies and practices of the LCBO and the very existence of brewer's retail (owned by three huge multinationals), not sin taxes.

LCBO does something unique among retailers. It decides on the retail price it wants to charge for a product, and then asks suppliers to raise or lower their wholesale costs accordingly.

And ever feel like having wine or beer with your Sunday night dinner? You can forget it if you don't show up at these places before 5:00 or 6:00 in the evening.

So what do you suggest instead? I grew up in Quebec where you can buy beer and wine at the corner store, which I have no trouble with.

The policies of the LCBO, such as? aside from the shelving/labeling fees of the LCBO, I can't think of any real major problems in marketing.

Do any provinces aside from Quebec have a different system? If you're thinking of the US system, there are spirits I can buy here cheaper than down south, so it's not across the board cheaper.

I don't know where you live, but you can't be that far from a brewery if you're in the GTA, Central or Southern Ontario.

Cameron's(Brewed in Oakville) has a couple of tasty brews.
Mill St tank house ale is quite good.

From the Beer Store I usually pickup a 12 of Upper Canada Dark....$16.95, great price.

I really enjoy west coast IPAs eg Boneshaker (Amsterdam Brewing Company) and Red Racer (Central City Brewing), but I also really like Cobblestone Stout (Mill St.), 266 (Cameron's) and 10W30 (Neustadt), Denison's Weissbier or Dunkel (Denison's) -very similar to what my grandpa brewed at our brewery in Austria so it's a very nostalgic beer for me.

Carlsberg and Faxe, or Grolsch.

Disclosure: I own stock in both Carlsberg and Faxe.

Somewhere in France
Bellwoods Brewery is a relatively new brewpub on Ossington.
Beers made on premises to die for. Interesting menu - they call it "a snack-focused brewery cafe".
Beer occasionally sold for take out in 64 oz growlers and 22 oz bottles.
For beer-lovers, this is definitely worth a visit... http://bellwoodsbrewery.com/

Creemore Springs , the best and most expensive I have ever had. To me it's worth every penny. It's not for the budget conscious at all though.

With the summer almost over:confused:, the beer companies are starting to introduce their fall lines.

For those of you who enjoy something different and special, Cameron has produced Obsidian Imperial Porter, 9.2%, .650 litterers and a taste no for everyone, dark roasted slightly bitter and quite strong chocolate taste. Very well balanced and not prone to linger in your mouth. They age it for 6 months in rum barrel (a gimmick in my mind but hey). Not to be taken too quickly as the 9.2% will bit you in the ass. At $10.00 a bottle it's not for those who bitch about $2.00 cover charges.

Cameron was a client of mine when they first opened and it's nice to see them push the envelope with their offerings. Much better than Young's Double Chocolate, right there with Chemay Blue, but at the price it had better be. i'm sure it will be a limited run so try if you like heavy chocolate brews.

Yes it's worth it, for that special game dinner or event.
