1998-2004 was the golden age of PC gaming. You look at what came out in that timespan, Half-life, Half life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry. Planescape Torment, Starcraft, The Sims, all these great RTS games, Unreal Tournament, Quake, I could go on, and on many new franchises were also born at that time. I just got the Hitman HD Pack on Xbox 360 which includes Hitman 2 Silent Assassin, Hitman Contracts, and Hitman Blood Money. Unfortunately, the original Hitman Code 47 never got a console release. Not really a fan of the Tom Clancy games or military shooter type games in general but I can see why so man people like them. Clive Barker's Undying is an underrated gem that many don't know about it.I love classic PC games. I just bought the original Tom Clancy' rainbow six/rogue spear games for PC. Also have been playing Clive barker's undying, and the original Hitman games. I have a new PC, but I find myself craving the older games. I can't believe how many awesome PC games were made between 1998 and 2004.
Tried it during dev. It was good.I saw Diablo 3 mentioned a few times. Anyone who’s a fan of the genre needs to try Path of Exile. It’s what Diablo 3 should’ve been, it has the best dev team ever, we get massive content updates every 3 months, and it’s 100% free to play (like really free, no bullshit, everything in the cash shop is purely cosmetic or quality of life). A new league just started on Friday, so now’s a good time to give it a go.
Giving a summoner a go this league. Pretty fun running around with my horde of skeletons, zombies, spectres, and golems just tearing stuff apart. Reminds me of the oldschool zoo necros in Diablo 2 back in the day. Still not sure how Blizzard managed to butcher the necromancer in Diablo 3 so badly. Everyone was clamouring for them to bring back the necro, and what they gave us wasn’t even close. It’s like they hate money or something.
Give POE another go. It’s a completely different game now. There’s literally like 10x as much content as there was at launch, if not more. Plus more ways to build your character, massive combat improvements, they got rid of the difficulties and we now have 10 acts, tons of new skills and items to play with, I really can’t overstate how much has been added to the game. Blizzard gives us a new D3 league, it’s some balance changes and maybe a new pet or wings for completing the challenges. POE gives us a new league and its new league mechanics, new skills, new unique items, new voiced NPCs, new endgame maps, a huge meta shift... each POE league (which come every 3 months) is what an expansion would have been back in the Diablo 2 days.Tried it during dev. It was good.
But I just love Diablo still. Play Hardcore For the challenge. And the season themes have finally settled in nicely.
I'm pretty sure they are play testing things for Diablo 4. There is rumour of an announcement at BlizzCon soon.
