How has the repeat offender you described (who you said has given ID in the past) kept finding victims when he's (I'm assuming) on multiple blacklists? Is it just a matter of indies not having access to the blacklists?
I feel like there has to be a massive leap of improvement waiting out there for some kind of tech-based improvement for making closer-to-universal blacklists more widely available, although I'm not smart enough to imagine specific ways in which that could be designed while also preserving its integrity/keeping clients from having (or buying) access and tampering.
Powerful men are pretty much the dogshit scum of the earth. I've heard a somewhat similar story from an agency worker whose agency knowingly courts the business of a violent repeat offender -- without being transparent and telling their escorts what they might be getting into -- because of how lucrative it is for them..
You’ve essentially got the right idea, there is just no ONE blacklist that’s universal or at least regional so all SWers within a community can use it. Blacklists can also often be accessed only with memberships through organizations, which make them harder to access, especially for the vulnerable SWers like the newbies, survival SWers or the ones battling with mental health. The privacy of blacklists is for good reasons of course, but it does make it challenging. There are some public ones on reddit, discord or verify-him but they often lack the full info needed, or are often accessed by the blacklisted clients themselves.
There is definitely room for improvement on accessible blacklists, but dealing with a pseudo illegal industry makes it harder for anyone to want to invest in such a tool unfortunately.
I support blacklists, don’t get me wrong, but it’ll always be a band aid solution and a privilege for the SWers who have access to them. The real issue is decriminalizing sex work AND decriminalizing the buying of sex as well as de-stigmatizing both.
