Eye gouging, ball punching, and face biting. That's what wins fights.

One that evolves and adapts to the individual build of the practitioner.

Styles like American Kempo, Systema, Wing Chun, Bando, and Krabi Krabong.

Btw, when you say Kung Fu, you need to specify. As the saying goes, there are more Kung Fu styles than there are grains of sand on a beach.

That's bitch fighting :D
Absolutely. But if some dude in a bar wants to get crazy, then by all means let's get crazy.

It ain't pretty. But it works.

I studied classical Shorin-Ryu for several years, wrote papers on philosophical topics for belt progression, and learned the classical kata under my sensei's direction.

But a good hard palmstrike to the goolies is ultimately a lot more effective...

If you're looking for philosophy, turn to the Japanese arts, i.e. Karate, Aikido, Ju-Jitsu. They have a focus on Budo, which trains the mind, body, and thought to fight honourably.

In a real world fight situation however, these systems are not the best (because nobody fights with honour), so I would look into MMA, Brazillian Ju-Jitsu, and Wing Chun. As always find an instructor who is good at teaching and willing to teach, and can let you develop. Some teachers punish the students for a couple of years before they will teach you anything. Don't waste your time with them.

More importantly, find schools that compete. These school are tested and their success is evident in the competitive process. I have been to some stellar schools that don't compete, but any instructor willing to put everything on the line in a business sense in competition is one who is interested in teaching and training the best. Just remember, regardless of a competitive school or not, find an instructor with a clear sense of direction, structured classes, and the wilingness to teach and train both body and mind. Good luck with your journey.

Krav Maga, but the way they teach the green berets, not the civilian one.

It really depends on the student that ultimately defines the best martial art.

Sorry to disagree with you, but have you seen the forest of trophies most TKD schools have in their windows? TKD, for the most part, actually forces you to keep your hands DOWN.

There are martial arts styles that do take into account dirty moves like eye gouging and ear ripping, btw. The styles I mentioned earlier, and are quite effective in the street. James Mitose, the man who opened up Kempo to the world, used to send his students into bars to pick fights with sailors, to ensure his techniques were effective.

Yeah, Tae Kwon Do is kinda of messed up that way. It depends though. I do believe Wing Chun, MMA, Brazilian JuJitsu are all good. Don't know much about Kempo, Krabi, or Systema. I have heard Krav Magda is supposed to be killer. It all depends on what the OP is looking for. If he is looking for a more spiritual base, I would recommend the Japanese arts. For more practical streetfighting, the other ones I hear are more effective.

& he died in prison in 1981  guess a law degree would have to compensate for the fighting ability, otherwise you may win the battles, but you lose the war, so what's the point of developing the skill?

A Glock hand gun, with the correctly sized holster. Mixed with a H&K assault carbine. Perfect.
Almost useless if you're within 5ft of your opponent, if they're trained to look for non-verbal cues. You'll be firing at the ground while they peel your eyeball out of its socket.

Indeed. The roots of Kempo are rather shady.

Karate

I have practiced karate for over 20 years. Also I learned kobudo (tonfa, bo, nunchaku, etc...)

I think karate is pretty straight forward. Altough most of techniques are not applicable because of the danger may cause, but they would work.
It is more simple than kung fu, but like i said, very straight forward.
However, is not a thing u learn in a lesson or weeks. Takes years to perform and develop efficiency in one blow.
