I have a friend about to buy a hummer H1 and I was telling him how bad the fuel economy is . He is coming back with specs I cannot verify but have trouble believing simply because it weighs over 10 000lbs .Online I can only find h2 and h3 specs .

My friend claims it gets 12 mpg .I do not think it is that good because I have driven full size pickup trucks that were worse then that .

I have been using google but have come up empty I hope someone on here has one and could tell me

if he's even thinking about getting it with gas prices going up by the hour he must have some deep pockets.

I can't see why anyone would want one of those at this point in time , unless he's into 4-wheeling.

If you are dropping coin on an H1 Hummer... should MPG even be an issue??

I never understood people buying Sports Cars, Flagship Luxury Sedans or Big Trucks and then seriously wondering about the MPG

Even with deep pockets I think it is a waste myself and I am showing him the additional costs .

It is not a new one it is a 2001 or 2002 but still the purchase is not as bad as its ongoing costs fuel just being one of them

Its probably one of the worst vehicles on the market. The US DND is phasing out the HMVEE because of all kinds of service problems. The H1s arent much better. The H2 and the H3 are bad jokes.

As with all SUVs, the people who buy them never use them for off-road conditions. I really don't see why anyone would "need" an SUV; a minivan or a pick-up truck I understand. It's a luxury purchase, pure and simple, IMO.

But if they've got the money to blow then good for them. But that kind of vehicle is not the vehicle to get if you're even thinking about mileage.
