The LG G3 was just announced and sounds good. Laser focus camera! And Probably the Nexus 6 (which might be just a G3) should be announced soon.

The Z30 is far superior to the Z10. People always look surprised when they see my phone and I tell them it's a BlackBerry. It's super responsive, browser is fast, crazy good battery life, takes excellent pics and vids, expandable memory up to 64 GB, micro HDMI port etc.

I've had mine for 6 months and have already received 4 software updates which fixed a couple things that were a little annoying but no a big deal. Nice that they fixed them though. I'd say you have a valid concern if you're worried about BlackBerry coming out with new handsets but as for supporting the Z30, no problem. It's not like to suddenly stop working.

The only downside is the number of apps but I'm able to download many android apps so it's a non-issue for me. There's also far less chance of getting malware on a BB than androids.

Yes, I know the Z30 is better.

I'm sure it's great but I think I'm going to choose the Samsung Galaxy 5 and say bye bye Blackberry. If I could afford a second smartphone (say for hobbying only, etc.), perhaps, I'd support our Canadian company by purchasing the Z30.

Thanks for your input.

I've got a Z10 and have no complaints about its operating system.

The browser is great, the unit is tough (mine fell about 15 feet and not a scratch) and the battery lasts me all day.

My only complaint?

I miss the damn keyboard.

I really do. I had a BB bold and the screen was too small, so I opted for the Z10. But I am way more productive with the physical keyboard. I can write a novel with the BB with the keyboard. I hear that the Q30 will be bringing back the belt and have a larger screen. That may be my next go round.
You're a BB die hard and good for you.

Well, I think I'll get used to the non-KB but I too am a very fast typer on my Torch KB.

What do you mean about the 'belt'?

I have an external USB battery pack like this that is really useful. I can charge multiple devices: phones, tablets, etc. anything with a USB port. You have to bring the cables around, but there are short and retractable cables out there. The nice thing with an external battery pack is that you can use it with multiple generations of devices so long as they use USB.

The Samsung phones have a removable battery, but they need a proprietary charger for it and they can be pretty expensive compared to a portable battery pack. The other problem is that you can only use the charger for the current generation of handset. You'll need a new charger and battery every time you upgrade.
Are you serious?!

Belt cases I guess because they only came with the useless slip on cover for a while.

Then you may want to re-think what you're getting because I assume you have to give it back to them at some point? Or is it yours to keep? Nexus 5 or HTC One are still solid choices if you're keeping them or not.
I'm not going anywhere lol. Who wants my Torch? Relative to the Galaxy 5?

I checked out the phones at the mall. Some look the same.

Belt means the row of instant access buttons above the physical keyboard.

I think there are some physical keyboard diehards - I am much faster on the physical keyboard than the various touchscreen devices I have.

I have the Z30. The OS is a joy to use, far better than the others. You've decided on something else, great, but don't want people to be left with a bad impression on BB10.

Exactly

The tracking pad on the bold along with the 4 other keys made it hugely productive

The physical keyboard makes me easily 2 times more productive.

Samsung handsets follow the Android standard micro USB interface which will charge / transfer files via the computer USB port. Not sure about the cost of a portable battery pack but from Tmart a spare battery is ~ $6 & a battery charger ~ $4. Tmart is slow for free delivery (3-5 weeks) but you can't beat the prices:

I was actually talking about Samsung's spare battery charger that only work for the Galaxy S5 battery packs. You won't be able to use the spare battery charger for previous or future Galaxy models because the batteries are differently sized.

The external USB battery pack I mentioned earlier works with all phones including iPhone and Blackberry as long as it has a USB port. The point of these external battery packs is that you can charge the phone directly with any micro USB cable. You would not have to take the phone's cover and external battery out.

I think Samsung is the only manufacturer still making phones with a removable battery.

What's Tmart? Will my existing car charger work on the Galaxy 5?

I feel like I'm cheating a GF or betraying a friend now if I switch, lol.

Was the belt a feature on Q10, Z10 & Z30 models?

I can charge my Torch with my computer's USB port. So this is not possible with the Galaxy 5?

People missed the track pad when they upgraded to a Q10 but a friend says he likes the Hub on his Q10 and that makes him productive.

Supposedly they will be putting it back on the Q30 (which isn't out yet)

I hope so.

The Q30 will also have a large screen.

I really don't like the touch pad feature. I can manage, but I'm not as good as with the keyboard.

You can charge the Galaxy S5 with the computer USB port, but you cannot charge the removable battery pack separate from the phone. That's why Samsung sells a spare battery charger so you can have a second removable battery ready to go.

I much rather change the battery than have a cable dangling to a battery pack - I doubt it takes me a minute and then I'm back to normal use (personal preference). The capacity of lithium batteries does decrease over time so replacement is not an issue when required. A better phone might make battery replacement moot but it is always better to have a choice IMO. There are other Android phones with replacement batteries as I know LG-G3 (new) has a battery but I haven't look at the other phone specs.

If you are paranoid there is one benefit of removable batteries, Snowden recently revealed that your phone can be monitored even if it is 'off'. This cannot work if the battery has been removed.

Whoever was asking - Tmart can be Googled. It is a cheap source of phone accessories. My purchases would have cost a fortune if I went through the dealer or manufacturer.
