7 West on Charles/Yonge.
this one's not just valuable because of the extensive hours...it's got really good food, and is a cool-looking, relatively inexpensive place for lunch or supper, too!

Right across the street as well, Sizzeling Jack's.

Ahh. I know the place. The thing is every single time I'm in the area, I can't get that mushroom swiss melt steak out of my mind from The Grille. It really is a well cooked steak. As weird as this might sound, I can only think of a couple of other steak places that I like as much.

I mean, when you take into account the caliber of the spot and everything. Even on Danforth I think the best food is at the late night spots anyways. They seem more authentic- Like Maria's Garden and her spaghetti - My goodness. So good. And so unique. They are open to 5am at times. (Philip gives her a little word of mouth since she knew my grandfather in Huntsville during the 70's)

Ok. I'm getting off topic over here. :)

You veal eating SOB's. LOL
I'm anti-veal but I won't push my ideologies on you heathens. LOL

The Denny's in the Falls is great, for a dine and dash. We did that on many occasions. :D

The absolutely best California sandwiches is on the Queensway just before Sherway Gardens. THE BEST.

Just walked past this one earlier today, after already eating at "By The Way". Wondered if it was any good...it sure looked it.
Pretty good as far as diners go. Decent Montreal smoked meat and the breakfast food is also pretty good. Also good shakes.

NO WAY! California Sandwiches all the way baby!

I've gone to both often as I have a couple of friends right in the middle of the two shops. I wish I could pick one of the two. My problem is I load them up with so many hot peppers, and I really can't tell which veal is better. I don't however like the fact that California Sandwiches closes earlier.

I wonder if anyone has ever gone in and actually ordered an espresso? Lol.

besides Mc barfs ......
If you are in the central Mississauga area there is a steak joint on the east side of Dixie Road just north of 401 and proximate to Brittania Road.

I forget the name, but the sign with the horns of a steer are unmistakable as are the references to steak and 24 hours - and good prices.

The place also sells a large variety of fresh steaks, and if, like me, you prefer to eat them uncooked you may do so.

It has other advantages for those who are more interested in eating than being served. Well, at least in my view, wherein dining on the meat beats dining on the sizzle and being able to dine without being interrupted while you eat (thanks to my experience acquired in logging camps where talking is disallowed): you tell the counter attendant what you want and he/she eventually hollers at you when it is ready. What more can you want?

It is a plain, unvarnished dump (but a clean dump) and the staff are good decent people.

I recall a few years back, having arrived late at a neighbouring hotel; I was famished and went to this place, located -incidentally- near a strip club called Marylyn's on Brittania. I had arrived at the eatery in the middle of the night and alas, had consumed some high power carrot juice at the hotel and the wretched vegetable matter had made me quite wobbly as I left my car to have a meal.

I was unaware that police cruisers were all around the area watching for patrons of the club for one offense or another.

Accordingly, as I weaved my way to the car for the short trip back to my hotel, a couple of employees rushed out to inform me of the police presence and offerred to drive me in my car back to the hotel with one of them accompanying us in his car in order to take my "chauffeur" back to the retaurant.

That uncommon act of human decency and kindness impressed me immensely.

And their steaks are damn good too.
