what to feed them

I love seeing squirrels (yes you heard right) outside my apartment

what should i feed them? peanuts? and other nuts anything else?

is there a risk (healthwise) by having them around???


P.S. I know this may sound weird but like all kinds of wildlife

Squirls are pretty happy eating sunflower seed, peanuts, and one you train them to come to you they will eat a veggie or two

I reccomend that you do not feed them
They is wild critters and need to be respected.

Ever consider this; a fat squirl is a slow one and an easy target for a cat?

Feed the neighborhood cats. It slows them down and makes them easier to catch for the dogs

mmmm not a good idea the last thing i want is having 12 cats outside my balcony meowing all night long....I have a dog (Bichon Frise) but he would not harm a fly

Very rarely do squirrels carry rabies and even when they do its not easily transmissable to humans cause its not concentrated in their saliva.

Remember though once you fed the little guy one time he'll be your friend for life.
They'll never forget which means they will always come around.
My aunt fed one for a while and it would tap on to the screendoor everyday when it was hungry.

I would not feed them as many carry sarcoptic mange mites , our dog chased and caught one once and they were the result - infected family , house and nearly killed the dog . --- sorry if link does not work, just "google" sarcopitic mange mite .

i think i will try some nuts (mmm that didn't come out right) and dog's dry food as well as apples, but like papasmerf said not to fatten them just a snack maybe

The best thing to feed squirrels is other squirrels!

Seriously, these are rats with bushy tails. Stop contributing to the city's pest control problems.

Once you attract them, they will chew though your phone/powerlines and anything else they can. They have been called "tree rats" for a reason.

Exactly a squirrel got in my cousin's house and chewed up everything . I was surprised at the damage they could do.
