Metallica has sold 100 million albums worldwide. They are the biggest metal band of all time (if you don't consider bands like Zeppelin to be metal but instead hard rock). One quarter of their total worldwid album sales comes from their mainstream hard rock album, the Black album.

Metallica doesn't come close to Madonna. Pantera doesn't come close to Metallica. Do the math.

I was merely correcting you. You claimed Pantera sold as much as Madonna in building your case. They do not.

I really can't speak for Abba because I don't listen to them, but as far as dance music goes, they've probably had a tremendous impact. I don't know. Dance music is/was huge. House music and all the other electronica are simply modern incarnations of disco.
