I was wondering if some old timers could describe what the hooby was like in Toronto years ago: in the 1980s, 1970s, 1960s, or even the 1950s if you go that far back. The only restriction is that we don't talk about Fantasia (I never went and I don't want to cry in my soup).

Early seventies. Just arrived in the city of cold hearts and warm beer. The Warwick House on Jarvis and Dundas. Someone tipped me off that you could get laid there if you couldn't get laid by your own talent. So I went. Great sleazy bar. Those days they were called hookers,not sp's and there was a room full of them, just waiting for you to approach and sit down and talk. For me it was the 1990's I remember drving around to see who worked the streets in those days. Never had much luck in the bars just looked never picked anyone. It was pretty rough in those days. I miss the street scene of the early 90s (Carlton at Church, Church betweeen Gould and Carlton, Jarvis), as well the 'Hooker Harvey's' (Jarvis at Gerrard) and Mr. Tasty (Church at Carlton) - both popular hooker hangouts.
