My neighbour says he won't eat cauliflower because his mother used to serve him so much of it as a kid.

I won't wear corduroy because my mom used to make me wear it all the time because she didn't want me getting cold.

Actually I do not know why but I hate my hair in braids. My Mom used to love playing with my long hair too much as a child and it used to be way past my bum. She used to either braid it on both sides of my head or one long braid in the back. I am not so sure if that is why I really hate them now or not though. All I know is it did used to annoy me lots and even then I preffered my hair to be left alone and straight.

I've never told anyone about my worst childhood experience and probably never will. I hate this thread for reminding me of it.

I wish I was joking about this, but my brother got me to be absolutely terrified of rainbows to the point that as a kid I'd run in my house crying if I saw one... here's how he did it: One night he told me that whenever a rainbow would come out, G.I.Joe's, Smurfs, and Transformers would climb down the rainbow and basically terrorize everybody... I even had nightmares about rainbows which ended up with me screaming in my bed!

re:scary non horror movie

I'm not to sure if any one remembers the hype of this movie back in 1983. My traumatizing experience happened when I saw the movie the day after. Scared me for months as a kid and I had nightmares. At that time, I didn't know the difference between nuclear weapons and convential ones. I recently saw the movie as an adult. In retrospect, I laugh that I was afraid of the movie as a kid. As an adult watching certain parts of the film makes me ask questions. For eg, I never knew steve Guttenberg could out run a nuclear attack. LOL....Also if you have a Volvo and duck down in it you can survive the blast.LOL... I watched the movie on tv and the next day I went out and bought as a memento. I watched it a few times since then. Don't get me wrong . It was a scary movie for it's time. However, I think the network executives for ABC probably didn't want to freak everyone out totally.

I have the same phobia about cauliflower. I ate too much as a kid. After awhile, it started tasting like blood. I've never eaten cauliflower since.

As for scary movies, I was scared of Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode 4 because I was very young when it came out. By Empire Strikes Back, I was hooked on Star Wars stuff. I was too scared to sleep after watching My Bloody Valentine and Halloween 1.

More recently, I'll admit that last year's movie The Grudge had me looking over my shoulder for a few days afterwards.

I have an irrational fear of Knives. I have no trouble handling them myself. I can even cut myself by accident and get over it quickly enough to resume my cutting/chopping, but I cannot be in the same room with anyone else handling one. I witnessed too many bad knife accidents as a child. Just bad luck on my part that I was around for them.

The bully across the street and his psycho friend.

The were about 2 years older than me, and intent on killing me (and several others)

One is in jail for murder now, so my fears were not irrational.

Barking Dogs...

Even though we had a family dog at home. Up untill I think about the fifth or sixth grade I would never walk down a street where I knew there was a dog in the yard. Even if the yard was fenced or if the dog was tied. Becasue they would always start running towards me while barking and I was afraid the dog would break free somehow and have me for dinner.
