What's in a Name?

I don’t often converse here or on any other forum on the internet for that matter but felt compelled to at this time.
It was recently brought to my attention that a new agency owned by Miranda has a new employee by the name of “Toni”. This has apparently caused a bit of confusion for some as this “Toni” is also of Negro decent along with other similarities. Thus the understandable confusion. The name “Toni” is in no way protected by a copyright patent however I find it perplexing when “new” and “unestablished” individuals (especially those of the same heritage, culture, skin tone etc.) take it upon themselves to “coincidently” use the name (s) of well established individuals. I am by no means accusing Miranda or “Toni” of plotting and conspiring to capitalize on my already established name and reputation but am rather trying to gather an understanding as to why an individual would use an established name. With names ranging from A to Z surely another name could have served the new “Toni” just as well.
I am of course not the first that this “coincident” has happened to (Samantha Jones, Sasha and a few others can attest to such past indiscretions) and I’m sure I will not be the last.
Imagine if the same was to happen to your favorite Agency or MP? Things that make you go ummmmmmmmm.

Regards all and play safe.

Toni worked indy for a year before coming to Pleasures advertising in the Eye and NOW.
She has used that name for the same time period and dont think she has any intention of changing it

By the way,I guess alot of the guys know you,but personally I had never heard of you..................things that make you go ummmmmmmmmm.

Do I See a Copyright in TTT's Future?

You tell her Miranda.
There is no copyright on the name, because if you look in a phone book, how many John Smiths do you see?
Some names are more common than others. When I went to school, there were 5 guys with the same first name as myself in a school population of 1200 kids. Since high school, I haven't come across anyone in my various fields of employment with the same name, whether co-workers or clientel. That all changed this past year, with meeting 6 other guys named Tim.
With all my trips to SCs over the years, I can't remember the number of times they have called up different dancers by the same name for their stage show. The dancers didn't complain. They get more upset when another girl uses the same songs for her set.

TTT, maybe the "new Toni" has a legitimate reason for using the name

TONY THE TIGER

Miranda, you have not heard of "toni the tigress"?

Names are names and it is hard to pick one when there are so many outthere. Kiarra
Kiarra, have you not heard of Tony the Tiger, of cereal box fame?
Isn't TTT's name just a little too close to the original, which has been around for 50 years? Longer I hope that TTT has been alive.

www.kelloggs.ca/whoweare/characters.htm

When I did a search on GOOGLE for TTT's site, it responded with "Did you mean Tony the Tiger"?

Yes we are not in high school, but TTT started it with Miranda, and i'm defending her right to have a "Toni" work for her.

I guess we'd better get all the dancers or MPA's on here complaining about who had what name first. BTW are you going to sue me for calling my dog Kiarra 8 years ago?

Names are names and it is hard to pick one when there are so many outthere. I mena my name kiarra, I used as a dancer, and a few years later it was used by disney in the lion king 2. Plus there is a kiara at hollywood, i think, an asain girl. If I had of known I would of thought of something else, but thems the breaks. I didn't know.

Kiarra

Kiarra, well said thank you.

I'm not about to start mud slinging with anyone here, there or anywhere. Definitely not worth my time. The fast disintergration of this thread reminds me of why some of us choose not to participate on these boards.

Let the "flames" continue, I expect them.

Okay maybe I should slow down...No one said anything about name changing, no one said anything about anything until pussylick came up with the "you get her" crap.

I personally find it shocking that alot have not heard of TTT but that is my opinion. Believe it or not there are some people that will post just to be honest and say how they feel knowing full well that nothing will change. In fact many do it just to get it off their chest and move on as I said before.

Does that make more sense for you now?

Kiarra
My name isn't pussylick!
I NEVER ONCE SAID to Miranda to "GET HER". Read the post. I'm defending her friend who is known as "Toni", not as TTT.

It's you who fueled this on by bringing up whether Miranda knew who TTT was.
If TTT goes by TTT, then there was no reason for her to start this thread in the first place, because her name is TTT, not "just Toni". Besides it was her first post.

To quote TTT, "however I find it perplexing when “new” and “unestablished” individuals (especially those of the same heritage, culture, skin tone etc.) take it upon themselves to “coincidently” use the name (s) of well established individuals."

Miranda has explained that "Toni" was in the business already as an Indie, and I don't see where TTT gets off thinking that "Toni" is trying to get a free ride on the name.
