Yes, Deal or No Deal is a very simple game show. The appeal of it, at least from my perspective, is the people they choose as contestants are very entertaining characters, Howie Mandel is very good as the host, and the uncertainty of each case's contents really ramps up the suspense as the game progresses. Of course, the models are also very appealing. If you want to talk about stupid game shows, what about that dog's breakfast William Shatner recently hosted. I cringed watching him strut and sweat across the stage, and he's not very funny when it comes to ad-libbing. Stick to Boston Legal Bill.

The only thought that goes into deal or no deal is that calculation that the banker makes..... which is a combination of your odds of winning and the amount of money remaining. IF the player knows that calculation they can use it to help gauge whether or not to take the bankers offer but other than that..... no skill.

My favourite game show has to be 1 vs 100. Cool idea plus I love trivia.

You're refering to E(P) or expected payout. Which I calculated when they get near the end, because it is easier to do so with fewer briefcases. Basically, I always get the bankers offer as less than the E(P). Translation, the contestant, mathematically speaking, should never take the deal and always should go to the end.

Deal or No deal is the ultimate. Someone finally decided to take every single bit of skill out of the game. This show cannot be beat, just as a stripper can only take off all her clothes.

Yup that's what I was referring to. But having never really watched the show for more than a few minutes I never got to notice that trend. Not surprising though that a show would do that.

However, if you had it down to say 4 cases with one million and chump change in the other 3 and they offer say 200 Gs I'd think about taking the bankers offer rather than risk ending up with three brief cases will little to nothing inside.

don't know about the dumbest game, but I really enjoyed "Identity". It took skills of observation though some idenities were easy to guess if you followed stereotypes.

There was one guy (family from the Philipinnes, i think) who won. You really felt for the guy since he wanted to use his winnings to help kids over there.

The game shows from the 70s and 80s were dumb, but hilarious to watch:

The $1,000,000 Pyramid - easy clues. The female contestants and celebrities usually wore skirts for good leg shots.

Tic-Tac-Dough - WTF was with the dragon? Remember the contestants' goofy faces when they were showing the prizes? LOL!

The Gong Show - the precursor to American Idol, much funnier

Wheel of Fortune - I always thought this was one of the dumbest, but I did enjoy Vanna White's outfits.

Family Feud - I love how everyone thinks they're looking for the RIGHT answer, when they really need to look for the POPULAR answer. Remember Richard Dawson DFK'ing with every woman on the show?

The Price is Right - Didn't require too much skill. I was more interested in the models, though.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? - Some of the early questions are pathetically easy. I like watching Meredith Veira, though.

Street Smarts was one that really irked me - it was bad enough having to watch all those stupid people on the street but what was worse was that the contestants didn't have to answer any of the questions. They only had to say whether they thought the people on the street would get the answer right or not...the contestants would always act like they knew the answers to the questions but I'd bet a lot of them didn't. No skill involved - Deal or No Deal is almost as annoying, followed by Hollywood Squares.

My favourite is still Jeopardy (whenever I get a chance to watch it). Weakest Link was also a very good show but it didn't work out because the players would often end up voting the best player off near the end which was unfair. I don't think the creators of the show realized that would happen.

Win Ben Stein's Money was a great one too.

Heaven, definately Heaven
I didn't like "Card Sharks". One had to guess the percentage of a survey. Then if you won, you still got screwed by the cards, even if it was a tie. No wild cards. Glad it's off the air to rot.

And I hate The Game Show Network. All Infomercials or boring "new shows". there's a ton of old shows out there and THE DON'T SHOW ANY OF THEM!! Only Match Game re-runs or The Newlywed Game! (finger in my mouth)! They couldn't even get all the episodes of the original Hollywood Squares, leaving the crappy version with America's biggest loser of hate and spit, Tom Bergeron.

My favourite game show is Chuck Worrlery in SCRABBLE! That was the best and it took real skill to start to get the answers! Once you got them, it felt good to get the answers, but if you missed some episodes, you'd have to re-work getting back into the rhythm.

And, as obviously true, the crappy Game Show Network couldn't get SCRABBLE, they instead insult us with these "other shows" with the game show host like "Lingo". That show should be called "Cheapo".

Gyaos.

Just Like Mom.

Just a step worse than Definition. Despite the wonderous talents of Fergie Oliver.

Why was Fergie Oliver hated so much when he was a broadcaster covering the Blue Jays ?

Wasn't he not married to a former Miss Canada ?

There is an annoying game show on late at night on Citytv. It's a call in show for cash with a 1-900 number. Unfortunately it's like a train wreck and I can't help but watch it for a few minutes.

Does anyone know what that show is called?

Between a rock and a hard place
Midnight Money madness.
Its just filler so the network doesnt have to produce anything of quality. They shut off the phones and entice people to call their despicable 900 numbers. Then they open the line to let a caller through.

The worst game show in the history of game shows - the one thatmakes me weep for the IQ of the USA is The Price Is Right. What an insult to the intelligence of the dumbest Americans.

I would have to say that from a skills point of view, the worst would have to be Let's Make a Deal, as guessing between doors takes zero real skill. I still would say it is entertaining but totally without skill. Even shows like Deal or No Deal require a sense of the math going on for the calculation (even if only in your gut).

My fave (despite how foolish it might be) is Press Your Luck (and the modern version Whammy! to a lesser degree). You answered multiple choice questions for turns on the big board and could lose it all to "whammys", which were the best part watching it as the animations were always amusing. I always wished I could get a collection of all the Whammy animations.

Well considering Bob is retiring come this summer, I don't think any other host will ever be able to maintain Price is Right so it'll likely die off after a prolonged decline.

Yeah, the Price is Right certainly requires the least amount of skill. But it has lasted for decades. And at least it doesn't claim to be anything more than it is: mindless, wholesome family entertainment.

The Weakest Link, on the other hand, was so full of itself. That was amusing at first, but eventually, people got turned off by the pretentiousness and animosity between the contestants.
