Just wanted to see where everyone gets their tattoos done. Personally i go to Yonge Street Tattoos they have good artists good customer relations and of course some of the leafs get Tattooed there.

I'm curious as to where "all" the other TERB members get their tattoos done ... and for that matter, piercings too ...
The last TERB party, at first, I wasn't sure if it was a warm up for a Biohazard show.

With no disrepsect intended, I still don't understand tattoos. I understand personal expression of course, but I fail to see how decorating your body with permanent colourings makes you more individualistic than just keeping your body au naturel.
I much prefer seeing ladies without tattoos but that's becoming more difficult these days.

Reasons for getting tattoos is some people have stuff on their body to remind them of a loved one or to show some symbolic meaning. Also to show their heritage. An example of that would be Celtic designs.
the reasons are as different as the people themselves. it's not always about trying to be individualistic. sometimes it's just about aesthetics...it all depends on the person.xarir said:
i find tattoos beautiful...it's just a preference i guess, like hair colour or wether you like girls with big boobs or whatever. also, i think it's sort of a generational thing, to younger people tattoos have become more normal, they are no longer shocking, more people are getting them.
anyway, i've gotten all mine out of town. but soon i'm going to start shopping around TO for somewhere to finally get my backpiece finished!

I second Urban Primitive!!! They do amazing work there. I saw Leah because her style suited me more - but Damon (sp?) does amazing tribal like stuff if that's your thing.
For me, my first tattoo was a way for me to accept who I am and put all the negative people and crap in my life behind me. I spent months thinking of the design and looking for the perfect artist. Everything about it was done by me for me - and it was my right of passage into thinking about myself first.

Well I got a tattoo from my daughter last year when she came home from a
Chucky Cheese party. Now we watch American Chopper together.

Xarir, I somehow thought of you when I read this thread. I seem to recall you posting in other tattoo threads. It's not something you can really explain to someone else. In a nutshell, for me it's very personal and it was done on anything but a whim. Only I can know what it means to me. It's virtually indecipherable by others anyway.
I've tried to convey my feelings on tattoos before, but never to any avail. Let's try it this way; it's the complete person that individualizes the tattoo, not the tattoo that individualizes the person ... huh.
Having said that, I can appreciate tattoos in themselves, as well as a part of the person whether male or female.
I suppose it's cultural or more correctly sub-cultural and just another form of expression. However, that expression is not primarily in relation to other people, because whatever it signifies to the individual it is still symbolic in the absence of others.
No doubt over time the stigma attached to tattoos is changing and they are far more "accepted" in mainstream society. For some it may be to some degree influenced by the current trend, but on the other end of the spectrum for many it is, for lack of a better term, also spiritual.
I've heard it said, if you want to be an individual in this day and age, don't get a tattoo. I disagree, but respect those who don't feel it's for them personally.
I got mine at the old Star and Moon in Chicago 32 yrs. ago. Magic Mushrooms on my forearm and a Stones Tongue on my upper chest .
