Nothing personal to Despo, but M&M's are disgusting and nothing like a real, homemade cabbage rolls. I had hoped and bought them a few times, allowing for possible bad batches. But as it turns, they're just bad.

Mrs. Vilve Yachke makes great cabbage rolls and coffee. If you can put up with the polka.

nothing beats my grandma's homemade cabbage rolls ~ I got my fix on Easter lol.

My parents buy them at a Ukranian Church now and then too - but they're not from Toronto.

I don't know where to find them in the city but I would assume the food shops on Roncesvalles or in Bloor-west Village would be the best places to go.

I am looking for authentic Cabbage Rolls ( Ukranian or Polish dishes ) in the city..Recommendations please.
There is two different type of rolls. Polish or ukranians use tomato sauce to make them and I think, they make the rolls from fresh cabbage head.(I'm not 100% sure)
Hungarian or sometimes call transsylvanian ( it was hungarian territory before the WWI) use different method and different spices. They used pickled cabbage head and put some smoked meat and sausage in the pot but no tomato sauce.
My opinion: The real hungarian cabbage rolls are the best. Unfortunately just a few people can make authentic rolls.:)
