To be fair hyperdog's situation has to be prefaced with a few considerations
1) teaching a new course will take prep time
2) salaries start in the 30s and maxes out in the 80s after 11 years of service
3) using up all 20 sick days is stupid because you get them back in cash at retirement
4) he obviously doesn't coach
5) he is a high school teacher not elementary who have less free time during the school day
I'm ashamed to call him a colleague but yeah it's true if you want to coast and do a half assed job it's quite possible. Like anything else there are people who get jobs for the wrong reasons.
I guess I just didn't like the way he worded his response. Yeah I take home a lot less these days because I've amassed a ton of files that I've made so that I can pull lessons up pretty quickly and I try to make good use of my lunch and prep period. So yes I bring a lot less home maybe the odd hour here and there but that's about it. But I do like coaching a lot even though it's not necessary and time consuming.
But 10 hours of free time is misleading...... most people like more than 5 hours of sleep.
