it also depends on how much rogers and apple store will sell it for in canada. If it's not $199, then I'll probably wait and get one from the states.

Rogers said today they will match the U.S. release price of $199.

already had the 1st gen with a US # and account- it was awesome 14 months ago. Rogers is gonna be expensive with the bandwidth services...

too bad it isn't available to competition in canada... I hate Rogers for monopolizing this... it's alot cheaper to go with a US plan from AT&T or Verizon.

in my pants, where there's a party
Hopefully, they'll have MMS. The original Iphone didn't.

In any case, I'm not the least bit interested. If you have an Apple computer, it might be worth it to you, but it's not as secure as a blackberry, nor will it have as many apps available as a windows mobile, as Apple has been a bitch about releasing the API.

It's a flash piece, nothing more.

Here
I'm sure all the first generation Iphone owners (with the lousy download speeds and the $599 price tag) are overjoyed to see the new (better) phones at less than half the price.

Suckers!

This is really no different than any other technology. Think of the people who spent $20K on a 42" plasma? or how about the ones who spent $70K on the 50"?

Better yet, how about that loser who bought sammy sousa's record breaking ball for $4M then when he broke the record again the following year it was worthless.....(well not really worthless, it was still worth $4.99 as a brand new baseball).

For myself I am fine with my Nokia. Now if Rogers would do that ...

... that would be sweet if it's sans contract. Definitely good items as gifts.

OTOH Ipod Touch is what I am interested in for myself if they will have a major price cut .

For most hardcore Mac heads that I know , they don't even flinch. It's part of Mac/Apple's culture.

Yes, IMO they are suckers. Can't do without them though :D

yeah, rogers will match US pricing on the hardware, but gouge you on the data!

my AT&T Plan has North American coverage at all-you-can-eat for less than a comparable canadian data package is...from either Bell or Rogers.

Oh heck, don't even start comparing US plans with Canadian. We're getting hosed through the a$$ from Canadian carriers.

I mean, buy one phone get 3 free? No LD, No Roaming, Unlimited day and evening minutes for $29.95? Heck, a few years ago this chick I met in Seattle drove from Seattle to San Fran talking to me the whole way on her cell....NO CHARGE!!!

regarding the data plan, you do not really need to subscribe to a data plan if you work downtown as it will pick up internet in the hot spot area same deal at home, setup a wireless router and it will pick up the signal...am I correct??

Not sure what downtown hotspot area you are speaking of. Toronto Hydro runs wifi downtown, but it's not free.
