The Progressive part of the Conservatives doesn't exist any more. They started their own party during the last election.

I stand corrected. "Conservative" is what I meant.

I dunno.

On one hand, the economy is good, and Paul Martin is a big reason for that. So why fuck up a good thing. Adscam doesn't bother me that much to be honest, they are sorting it out. I like Paul Martin, I don't like Stephen Harper. I don't like the Tory social agenda.

On the other hand, I think the liberals are soft on crime and have let the military slide into the abys. Harper will do something about both of those issues I am sure. Harper has also promised to cut the GST which is a good thing in my books.

On the other foot, Harper has stated that he will re-open gay marriage. Oh please no don't.

Sigh....

Harper won't be able to do too much with a minority government. He'll have to keep all of Canada happy, including Liberals. I don't see him as a leader, but I don't like the fact that Canada will allow the Liberals to rip us off again.

If Harper wins a minority, it won't be by much, and he is just stupid enough to reopen the gay marriage thing pretty much right out of the gate at which time the liberals, NDP, and bloc will all gang up on him and he will be out on his ass and here we go again.

I was going to and want to vote liberal. At this point in ths campaign I know I am not voting conservative.I think Harper is still a member of the reform party and has too many of Mannings programs in his plans.I don't trust him.I think he will be in bed with Bush at his first opportunity.Harper can make all the promises he wants, can he and will he keep them?
I also believe our economy has come along under Martin as finance minister.Unemployment is as low as I can ever remember it.The markets are strong.Things are good.
As a prime minister Martin doesn't seem to have the leadership to run the country.(which leader does?)"Mr. Dithers" was/is an appropriate namefor Martin.
Wait until the next debate then I may have a better idea where my vote is going.

Just wait till the liberals crank up their negative advertising campaign any minute now.

How much you wanna bet they feature Stephen Harper braying away on Fox News about how Canada should be in Iraq.

Chretien may have been a moron, but he kept us out of that fucking mess and for that we should forever be greatful.

The Liberals are running the worst campain ever. I was just watching the news, and someone said that the Liberals haven't even come up with a Campain slogan yet.

Martin is relying on Canadian ignorance to win this election. He is acting like George Bush Sr. did in his campain in 1992. As we all know Cinton won that election.

We need a change in this country, if it is a Conservative minority we will have an election in another year and a half to two years. Then you can elect your Liberals back.

Couldn't agree with you more.
If the liberals plan to launch a negative attack after the debate,I probably won't vote for them.I am looking for some positive message I can build on.I already believe Harper ain't the man and don't need a negative campaign to tell me that.Give me a reason to vote liberal not a message that tells something negative about their oponent(s).
Does anyone believe any of the leaders are good Prime Minister material?
I don't!

I'm voting Liberal

...biggest reason?

- I just can't support the social-conservatisim of Harper's party - regardless of any big promises. It's pointless to cast a protest-vote to one of the other parties for fear of the Conservatives winning off the their backs.

I like Martin too. He's got balls when he's fighting for Canada's best interests - and I like that ;)

I had a good friend who used to work for Sheila Copps' riding office. Always used to hear about the deep-seeded rivalry between Martin-camp and the Cretien-camp within the party. I gotta say - I believe Martin was pretty damn clueless about "Ad-Scam" because he was pretty-much a political rival who was kept "out of the loop" whenever possible - I disagree with anyone who claims that they want to "punish" the Liberals because of that fiasco.

I have always voted Liberal in the past. The one thing that attracts me to Harper the most is knowing that he will be committed to strengthening our relationship with the USA. Martin has said some things that may come back to haunt us is he gets re elected.

Now don't get me wrong I am not a big USA supporter, but I do know that most of our trade and business evolves around them and Harper does as well.

The other thing that has me leaning towards the Conservatives is the prospect of trying violent offenders over the age of 14 as adults; thus eliminating the most absurd law we have, the young offenders act.

Actually, it's the Youth Justice Act, which superceded the Young Offenders Act, which is an even bigger piece of tripe than the former.

I hear you on this one, and couldn't agree with you more.

One other thing to consider, the Liberals will be more "pro-hobby" than the conservatives.
