I'm a conservative at heart...Voting liberal and NDP is not an option for me...However living in Kitchener-Waterloo, there is a full out turban wearing paki running for the Conservatives(WTF RIGHT? My thoughts exactly) I won't vote towelheads into office...Not a chance, immigrants are starting to ruin our country and people's national perception of our country as well...
Thus, I will NOT VOTE this ellection....
To all the Conservatives' supporters:
This is the problem with the image of your party of choice.
I'm not saying the party endorses racisim in any way.....it's just that "redneck" quality that comes along with the Alliance/Reform half of the PC-Alliance merger.
(Look how shocked that..heaven-forbit a "paki" is running for the
Conservatives...oh my!
WTF RIGHT? My thoughts exactly
This is so telling.....remember during the US elections when there were countless jokes on the the tiny number of black Republicans? Same situation...Same perception...Different country
The difference here is - as a country, we're generally a whole lot more liberal-minded and embrace multiculturalism and limited Christian influence over government more than the US)
To many Canadians the image that the Conservatives conjure-up is one of straight, white, male, Christians shoving their beliefs down a multicultural society's throats. Just won't work...
I'd be more apt to consider voting for the Conservative party - if they nixxed the Alliance/Reform influence on their image and ideology. Too bad they merged.....Until the redneck quality is non-existant within their image and/or platforms - I will never vote anything but liberal so that I can do my part in ensuring that the Conservatives do not take power.
I'm young - but I suppose already pretty jaded by politics. My belief is simply - any political party will make big financial promises during election-time. Any political party will screw you if they can. The party who gets my vote is the party who I feel can best ensure that my country continues to uphold the national values that I most am proud of as a Canadian. (such as equality despite sexual preference, gender, religion, or ethnicity and separation of church and state to name a few....)
In my opinion - the Conservative Party does not have my confidence that they will ensure that those values are not altered to suit their white-first, God-fearing ideology.
