Why do Canadian women dress so poorly?

Women can dress anyway. If you think we control you through sex then screw each other, equal playing field. If what is between our legs so valuable to you then pay or go stop complainning and start dating each other. As for a daughter wearing clothes, she can wear anything she wants and I would not say a word. I really can not believe some of you saying women control you because we have a kitty, OMG you have choices.
If that was a response to my comment, I think you got the tone wrong. I'm speaking to those who 'request' that women dress sexy for them all the time, ensure that it begins at home.... With their daughters (heck, even their wives). ---sarcasm---

American women are easier (for lack of a better word) than Canadian ones.
I think you're mistaking "easier" for friendlier. I personally found that American and European women are relatively more open to talking to a male stranger in public places and are polite. I've got more action in Europe and US during my short vacations than I have in Toronto for the same amount of time spent.

um I must be weird then... I think a girl in sweatpants and a shirt is a super hot look. Throw some running shoes on and bam!

Theres no need for a girl to spend 3 hours in the morning getting her hair all nice and her makeup done etc. if they are just going to a class or hanging out with their friends. It's not like many of the guys are models that walk around wearing armani so why the hell should the girl have to dress to the 9's.

I couldn't care less about the clothes a girl wears lol- if a girl is attractive then she is attractive.

ok, Casanova.

I have a TON of nice clothes, I could dress well every second of the day and probably wear a different outfit every day for six weeks without doing laundry. I love dress pants, dresses, high heels, fitted blouses, nice jeans, leather jackets, trench coats. I love them, and I have lots of them, and I wear them.

Yoga pants have their place: hanging around the house, going to the grocery store (especially because I WALK THERE with MY DOG), the corner store. Pardon me for not dressing to your standards to go and get a liter of milk.

Perhaps your standards (ie, dressing up to go to the corner store) are not the same as my standards (dressing up to go for a pint).

I personally don't give a rat's ass if a guy sees me looking less than perfect. My mission in life is not to look done up at every second of the day for your benefit. I have lots of nice clothes, but I dictate when I wear them and for whom. I don't feel like a shlub for wanting to pick up a few items at the grocery store in my yoga pants and runners. How inappropriate would it be for me to be walking my Jack Russell in a pair of three inch heels and a little skirt? I mean, come on...who am I trying to impress? (Answer, NOT YOU.)

There is a time and a place for every outfit. I decide that, and thank goodness I do. If I deferred to some of you I would be wearing a ballgown and stooping and scooping for crying out loud.

Relax, Casanova. My post was obviously in response to your contention that women who dress poorly are a turn off, and so unattractive. Your quote was in response to biogenicx statement that a woman is attractive no matter what she wears if...wait for it...she's attractive! lol

My point being: that I don't defer to you guys to decide which outfit I should wear for what occasion. So be it if I am found unattractive in my yoga pants, my purpose is to be comfortable while I am exercising with my dog, not giving you eye candy in the dairy aisle of the grocery store.

For someone who resentfully refers to a woman's sexuality as a gold mine (er..oil well?), I'm surprised that you wouldn't be happier that some of us aren't flaunting that sexuality at all times of the day.

why do you presume that I consider yoga pants unattractive?

I was just talking about this yesterday. How the women out-of-town (like Winnipeg) are HUGE! We figure it's got to do with competition. Like a small town. Most wear parkas in the winter. Any good-looker dressed fine will be berated continuously and called bad names. So they change or they leave. The pool get worse. Since this isn't new, that why ladies in Oshawa (OPs choice of towns) mostly look terrible.

Downtown T.O., office ladies look pretty good. Competition. It works.

Late joining the thread, but I certainly agree with the topic.

But, it isn't limited to women.

Men in this country also dress poorly.

But, it is much broader than that...generally, Canada is a country of mediocrity...Canadians, by and large, are willing to accept things that are "OK" or "fine", and are satisfied once they have a certain level of "comfort".

And, as I have become older, I likely now fall into the same category (even though I enjoy the trappings of a successful career).

I believe I'm not alone in stating that I think that Canadian women dress poorly..and by poorly I mean wearing clothes that are not flattering.

(snip)

There are so many attractive women here..I don't understand why they have to dress so shabilly, and not accentuate their body parts...a real travesty.!? Any thoughts?
I got into a lot of trouble when I mentioned this several years ago, but I could not agree more. I will say though it's mostly women in English Canada - Montreal women know how to dress. They have lost their sense of femininity. More accurately they feel granola drab and track suit dour is feminine and empowering.

Then again, maybe they're saying Canadian men aren't worth the effort? Canadian men are the cheapest men in the world. Plus we ain't exactly GQ material either.

There is a simple answer to all this.
Nice dressing is like a well kept lawn, or house...
It just makes the whole place look nicer...

Its not so much about controlling what people (men or women) wear...
Somedays the work place can be pretty bleak....

Well dressed co-workers are just another sign that people care about themselves..and what they are doing!

Due to Government spending Tax Payers money on G8 & G20 criminal waste of tax payers hard earned money on such events!
Plus we are taxed on every step of our life then how our women are going to groom themselves, only SP's & Escorts can groom themselves well
as most of them hardly pay any taxes, their dealings are practically all in cash with no records for Revenue Canada, so they are the luckiest gals over here in Canada who are Tax Free, & Free Ports around the year.

exactly lol! And guys you need to understand some of these really hot girls don't want anymore attention than they already get by just wearing their "hanging out" clothes. Lots of these girls have guys at home and couldn't give a fuck what any of us think about them lol. Really hot girls create a lot of attention- you all know this- and when they have a guy I can tell you their "man" doesn't like when every god dam person tries to hit on them... So a lot of these girls aren't there to impress other guys because they got their man at home.

Shit I have a shitload of nice clothes- I almost never wear them because there is no point lol- I don't need to wear an armani suit to go to Zhers to get some oatmeal just incase the cashier happens to be hot or theres some hot girl also shopping there- lol. So a lot of guys are the same way...

If a girl hasn't showered in 3 days and has worn the same clothes for 3 days etc etc. than ya that's a different story- but if a girl is well kept it doesn't matter what she wears.

more than 50% are obese! clothes matters a lot.
yes and the same goes for men lol. Do you have any idea how many old fat guys I see walking around in wife beaters and shorts lol?

And dressing up a fat guy in an armani suit doesn't suddenly change him into a super model- same goes for women.

As I stated very early in this thread, Canadians in general are poor dressers. But I'd go as far as to say that, on average, Canadian men dress worse than Canadian women. It's embarrassing and so colonial/provincial that Canadians tend to dress "practically" all the time, even in situations that call for something more. The rest of the world laughs at North America in this regard.

If you dress like a slob, you'll be treated like a slob - don't whine about it afterwards.
