Why internet renders television cable obsolete...

it renders the television cable as obsolete and irrelevant.

I predict television cable will be non-existent in a few years...

why?

because with internet - you can have multiple windows (interactive media) /shows (youtube, songs) /websites/forums/discussion boards running at the same time.

meanwhile, with television cable....

you can only have one window (channel) running at one time..

Yes.

But you can't say internet will render television obsolete because a television is basically the same thing with a monitor...and you need a computer monitor to use the internet.

I understand from some people in the industry that the web is a game changer but so is Hi Def...it's a quantum leap in viewing experience, especially sports with a large field of play coverage.

What's wrong with watching just one thing? That way you get the most out of it. If you're doing all these things like message boards, youtube, songs, shows running at the same time, you're not really paying attention to any one thing and therefore actually doing nothing.

No offense but your a little late with your prediction. Please have been saying that for years.. infact you can order a cable like box that attaches to the internet and streams adult movies and shows to your TV and then there is AppleTV.

I have a friend in Florida that already has fiberoptics right to his door.

I don't have cable setup. I can download of the shows commerical free that I want to see off the internet as well as movies. Burn them on a disc and watch them on my television.
