Viagra Bob was never any good, but as he creeps into his 80s his senility is becoming more and more evident. He seems to always be 10 seconds behind the action on the ice, constantly confuses which players are which "Shot by Mair! Actually it was Druken... err...I mean Drury", and goes on these pointless run-on sentences that have no relevance to anything. I know the game going into double-OT was way past his bedtime, but he's ruining the playoffs.

The sad part is that CBC has some good announcers, but they insist on giving Cole the plum playoff jobs until he dies. How long before Hughson gets tired of waiting and leaves like Cuthbert did.

And can Harry "Cliff Clavin" Neale please stop with the constant inane statistics like "The team that scores first in OT wins 100% of the time". I really wish TSN had gotten the rights to HNIC.

Please go already, Cole !! ...this guy shoulda been canned 10 years ago. As each game goes on, the more annoying he gets. His announcing is from the "Cat in the Hat" series. when he wants to make the point about a player, he'll go into his " Alfreddson, he sure can skate,he's got a great shot,he thinks the game out there, that Alfreddson he does"...run on sentence...or just diaherrea of the mouth??. Is there anyone WORSE announciing hockey right now??...he's spoiling the game for everyone..

Does CBC ever notice that Bob has zero chemistry with Neale? Do they listen to Harry's his telecasts with Bowen? No.

They are funded by the taxpayer and basically the position is..."Fuck You"

Bob should have been put out to pasture several years ago....maybe we should write our MP's.........

i remember Bob Cole calling volleyball in Olympics back in the day. Wow that was bad. :eek:

I never liked Cole calling the games ever.

The Bob Cole Remedy

I got rid of Bob years ago. Just put the sound on the television on mute. If it is a Maple Laffs game, listed to Joe Bowen on the radio. In the playoffs here, go on to the NHL website, and you can get listen to the radio feed of whichever team is playing. While I am rooting for Ottawa, I love listening to the great Rick Jeanerette of Buffalo. Still recall his classic: MAY DAY, MAY DAY, MAY DAY, MAY DAY.

If only the CBC would let Rick call the games. Every broadcast would be a classic.:D

Who cares if they have "chemistry"? They're not playing a married couple. You think Neale and Bowen have chemistry? They sound like they were just sent a memo something like this:

"According to our very expensive international PR and marketing agency, real men who watch hockey jokingly make fun of each other in a manly way. After extensive (and expensive) focus groups they have supplied us with a list (enclosed) of approved insults for you two to exchange. Ohh yes he really should retire or be made to, tonights Wings/Ducks game is on the CBC but i hope it will be the western announcers, Cherry and Ron Maclean get on my nerves too......

I very much disagree. Bob Cole is the most exciting commentary in NHL history. In fact, I can't watch whenever any other boring commentator is doing the play by play, save for Joe Bowen. Yeah sure he muffs up alot, and maybe needs laser eye surgery, but HE is the VOICE of HNIC and NOBODY can match the enthusiasm and excitement that he provides... especially during Leaf games!

No one can compare, and when he kicks the bucket, my hockey viewing days will be over unless another "great one" can replace him, which is impossible.

no he's the voice of Toronto HNIC, maybe they should keep him in Toronto only, cause he annoys the hell outta every other market. Would be nice if he went golfing at the same time the leafs do every year.

I guess I'm in the minority who likes Bob Cole. Maybe I'm just too used to him.

You're kidding,right? Rick Jeanerette is a blubbering idiot. If I had to listen to him commentate then I would definately have to mute the sound. He's got to be the most biased announcer going these days.

but buy saying radio, i hope you didn't mean Beyak and Ralph!!! the Jim Ralph is the crappiest colour guy around. He wines about the refs more than Carbonneau did in his days playing.

i blame CBC.

they are too politically biased and quite the propaganda machine. atleast when the late game is on (out west) the stories are somewhat more true.

i'll take a good FSN feed from some selected US based franchised cities anyday over anything we have to offer in Canada.
