You're kidding, right? Rick Jeanerette is a blubbering idiot. If I had to listen to him commentate then I would definately have to mute the sound. He's got to be the most biased announcer going these days.
Rick Jeanerette is the announcer, not the commentator. Upon further review:) I would fire both Don and Harry and pair Rick with Joe Bowen. I am sure they would have a cardio crew in the booth, as sooner or later, one of them is going to croak calling a game, they get so excited.

As Don said though, Rick is certainly exciting.

Bob Cole and Harry Neale will be back for another season of Hockey Night In Canada.

At 74, Cole has called every Stanley Cup final since he became CBC's lead announcer in 1980. He and Neale, who is 70, have worked together since 1986.

Good, Cole and Neale are as Canadian as it gets I hope they keep them together every Sat night..

...Cole, is described as "something of an eccentric."

Cole wouldn't, and presumably still doesn't, allow anybody to touch him during his play-by-play announcing, perhaps because he unbuckles his belt and has been known to lose his pants. "Mister, don't ever touch me again," he said once to his young broadcast partner, John Davidson, after Davidson tapped him on the shoulder.

For a while, Cole wore a toupee. "I was shocked," Mellanby writes. "You don't need that," he told Cole. "I'm trying to look good for TV," Cole said.

Cole, "a little gullible," was ready to punch out Hockey Night host Dave Hodge after Hodge told him, jokingly, he was going to be fired for telling dirty jokes at a banquet. Cole was in tears, then enraged when told it was a joke.
Sounds like the real Bob Cole is even more weird than the Mike Richards impersonation.

Why is Bob Cole rarely doing HNIC for the Leafs? Tonight he did boston/montreal instead of toronto/chicago. I can't even remember a game this season that he did, then again i haven't been watching all that often.

I dont know very much about hockey but I heard the stupidest thing on the radio last year. Some guy called into the fan590 and said that Chuck Swirsky should call a Maple Leafs game and Bob Cole should call a Raptors game. LOL. The stupidity of some people. I'm not gonna evaluate Bob Cole as a hockey play-by-play guy cause quite frankly I'm not a huge hockey fan so I havent seen enough of him to evaluate him but I am pretty damn sure he wouldnt know a basketball from a bowling ball.

Bob has been put out to pasture to die a slow death and CBC is moving Hughson into the role as lead play caller (which is good in my opinion).

Bob came, did a great job, but displayed too many charactersitics of old age to continue. Instead of retiring gracefully, the old Newfy (meant in a positive manner) decided to push on and force CBC's hand - Thus relegating him to the English market in a French speaking province.

Hughson is the new voice of HNC and is well-deserved of the role. His resume is impressive dating as far back as my ears have heard him to the championship years of the Blue-Jays when he worked with Buck Martinez.

Memo to Bob - Retire gracefully so you can at least enjoy the accolades owed to you for your years of service. Your fans not only enjoy sharing these milestones with you, but they feel much better knowing that you are of sound mind to at least accept them.

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
Hughson used to call the Leaf games years ago, before he moved to Vancouver.

Hughson is the Most Boring Play-by-Play Announcer I have ever heard in the 45 years I've been watching Hockey.

He brings little or no Enthusiasm to a Game.

And he makes mistakes as well, they all do.

Bob Cole has been painful to listen to for the past five years. I won't miss him. He seemed to call the game the way he wanted to see it rather than what was actually going on on the ice. I'd often be scratching my head wondering what the hell he was talking about, LOL.
I liked and do miss Harry Neal though. He was usually very straight-talking, insightful and witty.

I miss Harry Neale too. His wittyness and humour was for fans of all ages. Where or what is he doing now?

Well I guess that i'm the odd man out here. I really like bob cole and although mistakes due to age happen, it never bothered me. His sheer voice and excitement was exhilerating. Harry Neale is a tool! His comments were absurd! Boring voice too....uhhhhh...new NHIC anthem, new commentator, and not for the better imo.

Hopefully bob does the olympic hockey! then again, might be senile by then!

Bob Cole was a legendary broadcaster for many years and it was always enjoyable to hear him to do the play by play action. The years have taken their toll a bit from Bob and it's a shame that he is getting older and not as sharp as he used to be.

A great guy and someone who will be missed when he decides to retire into the sunset.
