so tell me,

a) does the poll above state a deadline for this attack?
b) If you think there will be an attack, give us a time frame.

(background: I've run this question on another board, asking for dates for when the U.S. would strike Iran. I had noticed a number of people claiming it looked like it would happen - so I called their bluff, and asked them when they thought. It was almost 2 years ago now and almost everyone who thought it would happen predicted it would happen within 2 years.)

The point is, if you have an opinion, you have to be consistent. If you think there will be an attack, you have to have a sense - an approximate sense - as to when it would be.

And then, if you turn out to be wrong, you have to have the moral decency to stand up and admit it, and then deal with the fact that you were wrong and why you were wrong.

So give me your guess date. Let's go from there.
Remember when were were going to have a draft........ Many predictions that can be supported from copy/pasting a liberal blog don't come to pass. Predictions are a dangerous thing.

amendment

It's not the predictions that are dangerous, but rather the unwillingness to admit it when you're wrong, and the unwillingness to learn from your mistakes that is dangerous.

Mcluhan put a date to it, May 3rd, 2008. It's marked on my calendar.

Another era?? I suppose you think that Russia no longer feels it has a place in this era. Your kind of thinking will get us all killed.

You might be right. I was just talking to a Russian business partner about this last night, or this morning. I am not sure if I agree or not, but I see where you are coming from.

I think sometimes we in North America live in a protected bubble from world opinion. China is growing unchecked (poisoned toothpaste proves that) and Russia under a more authoritarian government are regaining their wealth and economic muscle. Both countries have watched strategic errors made by Bush Administration and understand that politically he is weak and maybe willing to gamble that Bush's political capital will completely collapse if they flex their muscle over any Iran adventure.

With no real evidence of a sane strategic thinking foreign policy, I have to believe that even the Bush Administration would be able to see the perils of an Iran adventure.

I've been in a global state of mind since about 1987 roughly. Got a couple of full passports. I know what I know, nothing more. Sometimes its not enough.

In this case you have to really stretch the mind to take it all in. 'Go to the moon' is my favourite saying, and look down.

Iran, Russia, China are a triad, its obvious. I don't think I should carry this line further, but you see I am in agreement with the picture.

Yes, Cheney is wired enough to attack Iran. Will he get there? ...i say probably.

Edited to add, you saw seven days in may ... right?

Well, you're wrong, but this won't be the first time you're wrong and don't know it.

Well Podhoretz votes that Dubya will Bomb Iran

Podhoretz: Bush to Bomb Iran Before Leaving Office

Sunday May 27th 2007, 9:43 pm

In normal, non-Bushzarro times, a man calling for mass murder would be held in contempt, not held up as an example of the political mainstream and heralded as a “distinguished author.” However, as we are well astride of the Bushzarro era, Norman Podhoretz is provided with a venue—for the proper audience, of course—to advocate the destruction of Iran and the murder of possibly thousands of its citizens. “I believe,” Podhoretz told the Israel Broadcast Authority on May 24 (see video below), “contrary to what many people assume, that [Bush] will [attack Iran] before he leaves office, possibly shortly before he leaves office,” thus leaving the political fallout to the incoming president, more than likely a Democrat. “I think he agrees with the analysis that I offer that there is no alternative to military action.”

Of course, in order to sell this invasion of a sovereign nation, based on illusory claims the mullahs of Iran are in the process of building a nuclear bomb to use against Israel—a crackpot theory but one that remarkably has gained a degree of credence in the United States—Podhoretz and the neocons have erected an elaborate if preposterous edifice to support their Brothers Grimm fable about Iran........
