The Dutch Health Ministry said it has temporarily halted administering AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine, Vaxzevria, to people aged under 60 after a woman who had received one of the shots died.
In a statement on Friday, the ministry said the decision was made “as a precaution” on the heels of reports from Dutch drug monitoring agency Lareb which said it had received news of five blood-clot cases among women who had recently been given a shot of Vaxzevria, the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca.
The women, all aged between 25 and 65, had received the jab about 7 to 10 days beforehand.
“Three [of the five] patients had extensive pulmonary embolisms. One died and one also had a brain haemorrhage," Lareb said. “Another patient had extensive abdominal vein thrombosis. One patient developed a thrombosis of the arteries in the legs.”
The agency noted that within the period concerning the five complaints, around 400,000 people were given the vaccine, and the reports “appear to be comparable to other reports in Europe.”

"I won't hesitate to cancel that in half a heartbeat. If it's going to put anyone in harm, we just won't use it, simple as that," he said, adding he didn't want to "roll the dice" by using AstraZeneca on a group that may have an outsized chance of developing complications.

"The guidance from the federal government is that it is safe for people over 55," Ford said. "I'm talking about younger people taking it, 35 years of age and in that range, that's where the problem is."

Although 62% effective in preventing COVID it is proving to be very effective and preventing serious illness and death. I can deal with a sniffle provided I know my family and I are protected from hospitalization.

I do however if given a choice or by chance prefer J & J as my jab of choice based on the one-shot convenience and Pfizer or Moderna as the second choice this leaving AZ as my no choice must take shot.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS IT?
Data from clinical trials showed AstraZeneca was 62 per cent effective in preventing COVID infections, but it also prevented death and hospitalization in all participants who got the virus after receiving the vaccine.

Efficacy was a major talking point when AstraZeneca was first approved, with some comparing it to the 95 per cent efficacy shown in mRNA vaccine trials from Pfizer and Moderna. But experts have stressed that all the authorized vaccines offer excellent protection against severe disease.

Dr. Zain Chagla, an infectious disease expert with McMaster University, says when dosing regimens are factored in, AstraZeneca's efficacy rises to "70 to 80 per cent by the second dose, which is comparable to Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson."

Real-world data is emerging that may also suggest the efficacy of AstraZeneca's vaccine increases over a longer time interval between the first and second shot. Clinical trials used a four-week span between doses but some countries have been delaying second doses by several weeks.

I’ll tell you right now what’s going to happen. The roughly 14% of the country that bothered to download Trudeau’s Covid tracing app will get vaccinated. Some will get bullied into it by work or family. Some are old and foolishly trust the government and the doctors.
